Default Question for any STR owners who use ceramic brake pads

Hello all,

I would like to switch to either akebono or EBC ceramic brake pads in my STR, and I am not sure if I would have to switch out the stock brembo rotors in order to do this. Is anyone running ceramic pads with the stock rotors? Thanks in advance for any input on this matter.

Cool

I use akebono and have put about 10k on them with stock rotors. No brake dust and I mean no brake dust. They are not grabby like the stock pads and whisper quiet. No loss in braking performance.

If your rotors have little wear get the akebono from Rock Auto:

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,1684

Less than $200...

Thanks, I already ordered them though. Do you know if it is acceptable to keep the stock rear pads with the akebonos up front? My rears have at least 10k left, but the fronts are almost metal on metal.

I have been running ceramics up front and standards on the rear on my Wife's mercedes for 2 years or so now with no issues. The ceramics pads are such a improvement over the stockers it's not even funny. Oh and I used stock rotors. I know this isn't on a Jag but same idea lol

I wouldn't dream of doing that for a variety of reasons. Screw the 10K left and do all four corners. You're not saving much and the rears will still throw up lots of brake dust...

Yeah, the dust is my biggest issue. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't have time to wash my car more than once per week. Still, I have other financial obligations for the time being, and I just want to make sure that running them this way will not be dangerous.
