Default Question on brakes...

I think my car is going to need new brakes before too much longer. I'm not sure what all the options Jagaur had for the brakes, though, and I'd like to be able to order the right ones.

My car has the "S-Type" and "4.0" badges on the trunk painted body color, but the rest of the chrome is chrome. It also has a lip along the bottom edge of the front bumper. Are these features of some kind of sport package that would come with bigger brakes? Or are they just appearance options that didn't come with any actual functional upgrades?

The car came with aftermarket rims, so I don't know what the originals were. Spare is a 16" donut.

How does one tell for sure what equipment a used car has? Is there a certain letter in the VIN number for the sport package?

I can tell you I use Jaguar brand pads on my 2000 S type 4.0….some of the other brands can be noisy.

Search the Forum; I think someone posted an email address for Jaguar to which you can write and ask for your car's info. Give them the full VIN.

They respond quickly and courteously with full info about your car. Warning - it isn't always accurate. The info they sent me was entirely wrong for my car. Most others on the Forum received more accurate results than I got.
