question..ready to change intake manifold gaskets
I am preparing to change intake manifold gaskets... I have purchased these
http://m.ebay.com/itm/400793538825?nav=SEARCH
And someone advised me to also get the pcv valve and hose. My question is are there two sets of gaskets that need to be bought ? I see (upon research) there is 6 on top and six underneath.

Sorry mobile apps don't show signature. I cannot recall your MY.
The lower intake either requires 1 gasket per bank or 3 per bank. The ones you linked to are for the plenum which is the same for all MYs. The lower bank which requires 3 per side are oval without the little hump on 1 side.

And I have a 2004 s type 3.0 v6 base
Also I guess I might as well change all while I'm in there

The upper and lower inlet manifold gaskets are determined by VIN with some cars having one piece lower gaskets. The upper and lower inlet manifold gaskets are different and care must be taken to not over-tighten the bolts when reinstalling the manifold as the brass threads can become separated from the manifold.
If you have the inlet manifold removed, it is a good idea to also change the breather hose under the manifold along with the breather gasket. If the spark plugs have not been renewed, this is also a good time to replace them and the cam cover and spark plug boss gaskets as well.

MY (US) 2003 and up do not have that hose located under the lower intake.
As mentioned in my first post here, you will need a total of 12 individual seals. Six with the hump for the plenum (upper intake) and 6 without the hump for the lower intake.
Definitely replace spark plugs at the same time. Also have on hand the valve (cam) cover seals, most likely they will be leaking oil into the spark plug wells.
Sorry...do an advanced search in this directory for "valve cover gaskets" or something like that by user "joycesjag" many will come up with pictures and procedures that will answer all of your questions.

It is also likely that 1 or more of the plenum (upper intake) bolts will not unscrew from the lower intake. Its ok move onto the ones that will back out (unscrew), you will have to pry the plenum off careful not to damage the lower intake or plenum.
The bolts thread into brass sleeves that are glued into the lower intake, simply epoxy the sleeves back into the lower intake.

Yes, I have changed the imt o-rings about 3 weeks ago.. very easy to do thanks to a post I found here.. didn't even have to remove the manifold. Just the windshield wipers and plastic cover. I too had a coolant leak, found it a small crack in one if the hoses going into the manifold.. luckily it was at the tip. So I just cut the damaged part off and reattached.

I guess you replaced them via the short route. I have 86k miles plus a vacuum leak so I will replace plugs, coils, all gaskets and o rings, plus my leaking imt's.
Then there's the coolant leak as well, looks like the little turret on the upper hose is leaking.
It never ends.....

Jimmy,
It can end. Temporarily, anyway. Once I solved the well-known quirks on my 2005 S-Type during its first couple of years with us, it has gone for long stretches of time without even a minor burp. Just turned 88,000 miles yesterday, hopefully solved my A/C problem that has plagued me for the past couple of months, and I hope I'm due for another long stretch of trouble-free driving now. I know that the plastics and electronics will eventually cause me to boot this car from our stable, but I hope that event is still many years away. Time will tell....
