Question: Will 16" rims fit on a 2003 S-Type Sport V6?
Hi I have a 2003 S-Type SPORT...originally came with 17" wheels, looking to get an inexpensive set of 16" wheels from craigslist for winter. But I noticed the front calipers are quite close to the 17" rims, I'd say only 3/4 inch clearance.
Has anyone tried this? Will the 16" OEM rims fit on an S-Type SPORT? I've got the 300mm rotors, I know cause I bought a new set and changed them but I'm wondering if the SPORT model has larger calipers that may prevent 16" wheels from fitting, especially on the front. Tirerack does not even offer 16" wheels for the SPORT model.
UPDATE: Here's a picture of the caliper inside the currently mounted 17" Cayman style wheels
Thanks.

Yeah I was surprised, too, but I measured the front rotors before ordering replacements and they were 300mm. They looked original and thickness was down to maybe 60% which is why I replaced them. New 300mm rotors fit perfectly. Don't think 320's would fit.
According to VIN decoder my car is in fact a 2003 S-Type SPORT...VIN ends in M48451. It is a 5-sp manual 3.0 V6 with CATS (has the electronic connectors in strut towers). Also has the chrome door frames, bucket seats and thick steering wheel...are there any other features that distinguish SPORT from BASE? Were the larger brakes an option on the sport model or did they maybe change from 300mm to 320mm rotors later in that year?
EDIT: here's a picture of the caliper over the 300mm rotor inside 17" Cayman style wheels.

Just to be conternacious I'll guess yes the pic of the caliper shows that 320mm discs wouldn't fit, (still have to question the sport thing, what other sport options do you have?) 16" was a standard fitment.
Can't you get a measurement of the ID of wheels you want and check with one of the existing?
