Not sure I agree with your analogy. Going from 5 to 20 HP is a 400% increase. Going from 400 to 415 is a 3.75% change.

Mikey, agree with % power but just suggesting those interested to compare the "feeling", not....

What I'm saying is that a 3.75% change in power is most likely not noticeable to the majority of drivers, putting the placebo affect aside.

That's 15 more horses of additional power - I definitely noticed a difference after fitting the new qwiketz and a K&N filter.

At what level would you consider that a butt dyno could detect the difference between a real power increase and a placebo effect? 20HP? 30HP? 40HP? 50HP?

Eaxctly my point Mikey, in a 400 hp @ 410 lb/ft trq. machine, it'll be difficult to notice the seat of the pants effects of a 10-15 hp gain. My original post best reflects a subjective versus objective sensation of increase in power. A post air intake tube dyno was performed proving a 15 hp gain, thus my original "5 hp pushmower versus 20 riding tractor" analogy. Let's not be too technical or everyone might quit posting their subjective thoughts etc., leaving the rest for certified engineers and physics PhD's.

Hey guys. For anyone else out there interested, I have 3 left and are ready to go. They are unpolished. If you get bored of that look, it's not hard to find a shop to put a mirror polish on these; you can usually ask a motorcycle shop where they get their stuff polished.

Anyhow, if interested PM me.

Finally, it was brought to my attention that the insurance companies handle modifications to your car differently in Europe than here in the US. Make sure you know where you stand in regards to these.

Fitted mine, looks and sounds awesome...!... do have one issue though, will throw a lean code on both banks after start up..?.. reset the code and runs fine until i stop/start her up again.

Anyone else fitted to a UK car, i have rechecked the install and even removed and reinstalled the stock pipe to ensure no vacum leaks.

Only throws the code within 5mins of starting the acr after stopping.

I may have to post codes and freeze frame data in a seperate post for a tech to look at...

Sounds like an air leak i.e. not quite fitted air tight.

as JagV8 said, lean on both banks = air leak

Right, definately no air leaks. Refitted standard intake and works fine.

Refitted new intake and deffo no air leaks, had it checked by my Indy.

We have narrowed it down after extensive testing to it only throwing the code when it is a warm engine restart.

I leave the car over night or a long period, it will start fine and run perfect. However if i stop for a coffee mid journey and restart her up after 5 mins throws the lean on both banks codes, reset the codes runs fine.

My Indy said it could possibly be an ageing MAF and the flow from the new intake is highlighting it.. ie too much cold air passing through too quick when it expects warm less dense air from a warm engine mid run..?

Any other thoughts..?

Big fuel trims, still looks likely an air leak.

Even so, can't hurt to clean the MAF (carefully).

MAF cleaned, carefully already..lol

Big fuel trims, what should they be at idle on a standard set up without issue...?...

Just intalled mine tonight, took about an hour or so. I drove around in 105* weather and can already tell there is a significant power increase from all rpm levels even with the heat. feels like 15rwhp or so, and more torque, with a very significant increase in throttle response. I will have more info later in the week, but just wanted to revive this thread and note that I am very happy after a few minutes of driving. The sound of my exhaust even changed too, hah. also appears my stock intake was semi crushed underneath where it goes into the black aluminum tube (check yours too). And best of all, the SC screams like an 03 cobra, but is generally quiet under 3KRPM.

Also, since we are supposed to cut the stock tube from the valve cover to the intake, I wanted to let others know I am willing to sell my other half since the complete stock piece is impossible to find. This way you can keep your stock piece and go back to stock whenever by using my other piece. pm me for details.

New MAF fitted, and a couple of tanks of 100RON V Power .... all seems fine. Done circa 1000 miles, inclusive of lot's of warm stop starts and she runs ever so well, no lumpy idle on start up from cold and at full throttle goes and sounds like a scolded cat.

If she continues to behave now, will be hoping to get her booked in for a run on the dyno...

Glad to here that you're really happy with the elbow. I know heat soak was a concern but this thing adds so much power throughout the band that it far outweighs any possible heatsoak. If it'll work for you in 105' weather, it should work for just about anyone.

Finally, anyone thinking about buying a tube or yet to install theirs should definitely jump on your fitting as they are currently unavailable.
