The noise is the best part! At least I think so. Hearing the s/c wind up is good for more HP in my lizard brain.

heatwrapped intake isn't the prettiest thing- but it works

if you have an obdII reader, you can read the intake temp from the car to compare different setups. here's a link to an idleing test with my heatwrapped intake

I suspect that's how most performance parts are marketed.
My now former insurance company has done very well with a form of lizard.

Guys respond to this very well. On Friday I spent a couple of hours driving my Espada after I finally found the magic combination of jets for its six carbs and just listening to that v12 wind up and perform so smoothly was exhilarating. But I wasn't really going all that fast. That car didn't ever reach 60MPH in 6 seconds but it entertains very well none the less. From one lizard brain to another.

Hi guys. We were on the topic of coating the intake tube. I spoke to a customer of mine today that does electroplating. He said that with stainless, I'd have to coat it with nickel prior to painting since paint won't adhere to the stainless very well. So, it looks like it I keep it stainless, it will be a multi coat type deal. Based on that, I'm probably going to just have it polished.

I also took a bunch of measurements of underhood temps while commuting to appointments today. I'll create a separate thread for that.

Finally, on the topic of heat soak, I don't think that this part is nearly as key as the tube over the supercharger that connects to the throttle body. If we wanted to reduce heat soak, that's the first part that I'd attempt to do in abs plastic/composite, ect. I have the connections to get it done, but there just isn't enough of us to make it happen and be cost effective. Also, I'm still awaiting my quote on a plastic intake tube. Hopefully I'll get it by the end of the week.

Is there anyway to measure IAT's (Idle Air Temperature) with a scanner or the dyno tools? When I was interested in owning an LS2 GTO I followed the VaraRam build online, and they focused on the IAT's which resulted in a very successful product.

For the sake of simplicity, I would be interested in just the intake tube that uses the stock airbox. Nonetheless, keep the creativity going and thanks for doing this.

there is, but I don't have any of the software to do so. Yes, this tube will work with the stock air filter box as well as with a cone filter in my setup. I based the dimensions off the stock plastic one.

As some of you guys know, I was laid off from NAPA, and I got new job, and have been working 80-100 work weeks, and now that the dust is settling its time to come make some noise!

Update... After the dyno Friday I'm going to drop it off to be polished. I'm also waiting for the breather fittings to come in on Thursday. I'm going to be chopping up the stock breather line and using a new one rather than using my old one. It's going to be a super easy install once I get those in...

Hitting the dyno tomorrow. We'll see how things go!

On a different note, it looks like if I do a run of these, they'll be in stainless... Check out this email. If it were 5 years ago, I'd think demand would be there to make it work but with only 15 or 20 people, that just ain't gonna happen. But, as they say, you don't know till you try....

Based upon the information you provided, you are looking at a ballpark mold cost of $ 7,500.00 - $ 8,500.00 + tax depending up on the final design of the tube and a part cost in the range of $ 15.75 - $ 17.00. We would need a CAD file of the part design to create the mold, if you don't have someone that can do this for you, we can provide that service as well and that is invoiced at $100.00/hr. If the design is as simple as you say, it should only take about 3 - 4 hours for the design if that.

Tooling requires a 50% deposit with the order, balance is due upon completion. Parts can be invoiced on terms.
