Good afternoon, S-type aficionados. I purchased my 2005 s-type vdp from a GM dealer who told me it had a factory-installed radar detector. It certainly looks like a factory accessory, with the lights right in the instrument panel above the tachometer. The radar detector works well, but I can't find a way to turn it off, and it can get annoying in certain situations.

I called the local Jaguar dealer and the service manager told me that Jaguars never have factory-installed radar detectors, so it has to be after-market. He suggested the only way to turn it off is to disconnect the power source. I don't want to do that, because I like the feature most of the time. Anyone have a radar detector or any good advice?

 

Why would you listen to a GM dealer that is selling you (or hooked you on) an almost 10 year old vehicle they have no knowledge of.


Follow the advise of your local Jaguar service manager.

 

Suggest a simple switch in the supply to the detector if you wish to use it now and again. All the best!
