Radio GRRRRRRR

Hi, I removed stock radio and satnav(couldn't get disc for NZ)and custom made a panel out of perspex that could fit a DIN size standard head unit and a Garmin GPS. That was great until some ### stole the whole thing from my dash and left a big hole. I have yet to make another. I had a JVC DVD audio headunit which was great. I replacedit with a Blaupunkt MP3 player (which is currently just sitting in that big hole). I didn't like the original in my 99 S-type as it only played CDs. I had no issue with the radio, which hadgreat reception. I think your problem may be with the aerial, which has an amplifier for the signal (which I think is in the trunk/boot), but have a look on the JTIS. That is the most likely cause. Otherwise, if you had spare headunit/radio you could remove the factory radio and temporarily wire it in and use the aerial/antenna connection in the car. If you get good signal, then the factory radio is faulty, if not it is probably the aerial amplifier or wiring associated with that and the aerial.

I have a 95 XJ6 VDP. I just had a Kenwood satelite radio installed along two new speakers in the front doors. The shop that actually did the work took the face plate off the old Jag radio and remanufactured it to fit the curved part of the dash. It cost $600 almost half of which was labor. No commercials, especially now with nothing but political comercials.

There are plenty of aftermarket fitment kits and wire harness adapters. Actually Crutchfield just started carrying both kits...
