Default Radio problem

My wife took her 04 S type in for its annual MOT, road worthiness test, last week. all was okay until she says to me the radio isn't working correctly. Unable to change stations or alter volume. Switching ignition off then on again sorted problem until next time she drove it when same problems. I then disconnected the battery for an hour to see if anything needed resetting but now I cannot get anything. It just shows "Code" but will not let me enter anything. pressing the buttons does nothing. Somewhat confused.
Also when I disconnected the battery the alarm was set. On walking away from the vehicle it bleeped for 15 seconds then stopped for 5 seconds then started again and stopped again. If the battery is disconnected where is it getting this power from?

Sounds like backup alarm.

Which radio/etc do you have? Satnav screen or what?

If you have them, press all of FFWD (>>) & AMEM & PTY at the same time.

Hi

It's the standard split display climate above with radio below. Tried all combinations of buttons, including your suggestion with no luck.

Have you tested the battery. These kinds of "gremlins" are often caused by a battery on the way out.

Well not as such. Checked cells all okay. Voltage is okay and is okay when cranked so battery isn't my first suspect but can pop a replacement one in to see, nothing to lose.

After performing hard reset did the radio come back or does it still say code. And if so can any numbers be pressed for the code to be enter. I can get you the code with the last 6 of the vin.

till wants the code. If I press any of the number buttons it's just like I haven't pressed them ie nothing. Going to have a chat with my local indy.

Some codes need inputting via such as turning a tuning knob and then pressing something to confirm that setting. Explained in handbook

Any dealer can tell you the code very easily if you haven't got it.

I'd be grateful to get to the confirmation bit, it just won't let me enter any numbers.
