RE: Diagnostics charges.
This maybe just common sense but before I take my car in for any dealer service I allways call and tell them whats wrong and ask if it's covered under warranty. If they say no then I know that I am pretty much going to have to pay the fee or I can think about other options. Also they allways remind me that if the repair is covered then the diag. charge will be waived but if it isn't then I will have to pay the charge and pay for the repair if I choose to have them do the work. They also have me sign a form stating this. I just don't understand all the people that are surprised buy the diag. charge. Is my dealer the only one that points this ? Sometimes it's a crap shoot if you know what it's doing but you don't know whats causing the problem then I guess that you just have to take that chance. I've also been surprised what they found and that it is not covered but you still argue and then you just pay the diag. charges and either have it fixed or not. A couple of guy's on here that walked out with out paying the diag. charges may have voided their warranty's or may face criminal charges and it's just not worth it in my opinion and I know that some of these dealers can be very frustrating to deal with!
I also call select edition myself and see if a particular repair is covered as the dealers are not allways right.
There have been times where a repair is not covered and I will ask the service manager if he can give me a little break on the cost and sometimes he does.
That's just how I handle the Select Edition situation!
