Rear End Collision.....UGH!
#21
Ok..received a call 5 mins ago from the insurance company & they have deemed the STR as a total loss. Now the kicker, I was advised to file an underinsured motorist claim with my insurance company as the accident has now exceeded his insurance coverage based on the value of my car, rentals, lady's CRV behind me, and the insureds Dode Ram. Just my luck.

This is a crying a$$ shame. We worked soooo hard to help you locate the perfect STR, and now some bonehead comes along and destroys it.
$14k in estimated repairs!! Ouch.
I was rear-ended by an older suburban a couple of years ago, and my damages were nowhere near as bad. The total repair was about $2,600 for new bumper, new under supports, fixing a big dent in the trunk, and buffing the right rear lens.
Looking at your car, your bumper is gone, the right rear lens is toast, and your trunk is severely damaged. What is not as apparent, is the structural damage underneath.
Good luck on this latest saga. When the time comes to look for another car, we will be here to assist you along the way.

I would bet good money that your STR will be repaired and then sold with a salvaged title. But who knows at this point whether the repairs will be stellar, good, mediocre, or poor....
Either way, the insurance gamers will profit off of you twice. They'll attempt to underpay you for your loss, then they will sell your STR for whatever the market allows. Sad but true....

I wouldn't bother keeping the car. You will not gain anything by repairing it and selling it with a salvaged title. Would be a tough sell and you'll end up dealing with bunch of low ballers. Just make sure to do your homework on price research and stand strong with the insurance company.
Good luck!

I feel for you brother. Seemingly New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews, Car Finance Advice - Cars.com is the hotbed for S-Type's including the R models. There's also a few on Ebay from time to time that seem pretty tight.

Sure, I understand the need to seat two kids, got four of my own. And I wouldn't kick an XFR out of my garage, but a CTS-V? Kidding, what ever works....

I looked at a CTS-V wagon a couple weeks ago while I was at a cars and coffee event. The guy driving it used it as his daily driver. He was race driver and instructor maybe 29 years old and he loved it. It was a 6-spd manual.
The back seats looked kind of tight for adults?
They aren't all that expense used. I wonder how they hold up?
Awesome power but RWD only

GT42R, It is an '06 with solid Black interior in excellent shape. I will see if I can find out from State Farm which salvage yard they were towing to. They had to get it out of the Jag body shop to stop the storage charges.
Really sucks because I bought the car in pristine condition and kept it that way. Plus, the STR has never had any of the typical STR issues discussed in the forum.

Shame you didn't get to keep it in order to part it out, I would have grabbed that entire interior off you!
