Default rear exhaust

I have looked through a ton of posts and still have a question -my rear muflers have holes and need replacing -very drony sounding! Local shops have no listings for any replacement from any manufacturer. What model #Magnaflow is correct and how much better is the Mina that is discussed here? I may just order the Mina as I know it will work for my car and the other brands seem to be a guess.

hifipm - I just checked www.rockauto.com - they have nothing listed. Looks like you might be stuck getting them used off of Ebay or purchasing OES from Jaguar - XR8018796 (R) and XR8018798 (L) - about $475.00 each - remember, Nalley Jaguar gives a 15% discount and ships for free. Good Luck.. (Or the cheapie fix would be to apply exhaust tape to cover the holes - all depends how large the holes are... if their pin sized - this is the way to go..if you have multiple holes throughout - no dice..

Throw on a pair of Turbo mufflers ($40-$80), the stock boxes are basically plugged up turbo mufflers.

a good muffler shop should be able to take some measurements and offer you a few choices, doubtful there will be a drop in replacement as they seem to be an odd shape. there are a few salvage yards that specialize in foreign autos that likely could provide a good used unit. Welcome - Specialized Parts Planet show to have an 03 STR in that was wrecked in the front, may want to give them a shout and see if they can help. there is also Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market US based salvage search comes to mind also. sorry cant be of more help

Maybe post a "wanted" ad on this site? I know some owners here have switched to Magnaflows or other exhaust setups and might have some perfectly fine stock units laying around that they would be willing to part with...?

Yes I have swapped the back boxes out and still have my stock 2005 STR mufflers. They are pretty bulky and heavy. Might cost a bit to pack and ship them??

The exhaust system is SS. Kind of surprised yours rusted out. I am in Texas and other than a bit of black carbon stains my factory ones look brand new.

The Canadian winter is not kind to these sort of things and to make matters worse I live close to work so the exhaust barely gets warm, so likely condensation is the culprit- the holes are on the tops. Thanks for the offer clubairth1 but I think I'm going to order the Mina tomorrow

I just place my order for the Mina exhaust-they are easy to deal with only $20 more to ship to Canada. I'll let everyone know once installed, but thanks to those that arranged the 'deal' Paul

Smile roar!!

Just got the car back after the Mina exhausts installation - wow great sound - slightly louder and deeper at idle no drone at speed and great under throttle- I just drove in city so no WOT, yet!! Sounds great and seems to go better-probably just my imagination but... I'm going no to give her a wash and try a higher speed drive-thanks to all for the input and to who ever arrange the deal- i'm thrilled!!!

Mina is the way to go. I have them on my STR and couldn't be happier plus they aren't too expensive.
