Default rear rotors on 03 STR and pads......

as a suggestion, if your going to do the pads and rotors on the rear, you may as well get new pads for the emergency brake. Just a heads up that if you plan on doing the swap, make sure you have a replacement set of those. They are DEALER only and mine cost me 139.35 plus tax cause i had to go to the dealer in a pinch. Yes they can be had cheaper, from the forum members, but with my car apart i had to pay the piper.......however everything is good now, and the brake performance set went on without any issues whatsoever.

Glad it went well. I guess there aren't enough of these cars for other brake pad companies to manufacture replacement e-brake pads for us at a fair price....

I don't understand how these e-brake pads wear out unless they are malfunctioning and dragging on something as a result. Theoretically, they don't grab anything until the car stops moving and they release before the car starts moving. So what wears them out?

not sure about them dragging on anything, mine had pad left, however they were crumbling and cracked from what he showed me. They were the original set and after 7 years i guess they just kinda came apart. Now that i think about it, they look very close to be designed like some motorcycle pads....i should have saved them and researched it a little better.

I have wondered about this also?? The traction control use the regular rear brakes so the emergency pads really should not be used at all when the car is in motion?

If you installed slotted or dimpled brake performance rotors, please post pics.

i dealt with Athena at Brake Performance, as an FYI.

I ordered the rotors in black also. So all the slots and x-drilled areas are coated in black.

I cannot see the pictures due to not having sufficient privileges. Is it at all possible for you to post the pics in the thread not as attachments? If you could do so it would be sincerely appreciated.
