Default Rear suspension sway.

I'm getting considerable movement in the rear suspension of my 03 Type S - V8. It's serious enough that when cornering right hand turns at higher speeds, (a bit spirited but nothing crazy -like exit ramps ) the stability control warning light comes on. The car also feels like it's steering from the rear on undulations in the road. It could certainly be control arm bushings, but anyone know if it could also be the subframe bushings? The car has just over 100/m miles. Any ideas about how to diagnose would be really appreciated!

I think you need to get the car in the air and check everything out. This is not reported so it might just be mileage related.

Have you changed the rear tie rod ends? Which are really rear toe links? They provide a small amount of passive rear wheel steer and if worn could cause weird handling.

I'll get it on the lift again tomorrow and see if I can find any play. I want to be sure that it's the C. arm bushings before ripping stuff apart. From what I understand, the rear bushings are not available and you gotta buy the whole cont. arm = $$$. I don't know anyone who has had to change the sub-frame bushings but something is sure out of whack in the back, and they're the only items that sem to have a little movement. *Driving the car is downright scarry.
Thanx "tbird6", I'll certainly pay close attn. to those rear tie-rods.

Your struts could be worn out, especially with that mileage.

You could also have a "Bent" rear Tierod. This condition doesn't produce a "Sway", but under slightly more aggressive acceleration, you'll get the "swaying" sensation. Just a suggestion on something else to check.

Going to change one of the rear control arms, the one that seems to have a bit of play. I'll report back with the results.
