Default Rebuit Transmission Alternative for 1999-2002 S Types

I have been reading a few threads about the ZF 6 speeds giving people headaches, and how its costing a $3 to $5k to get them serviced.

I saw this on rockauto and its for the 5-speed transmission. The price includes a new torque converter.
2002 JAGUAR S-TYPE 3.0L V6 : Transmission-Automatic : Automatic Transmission Assembly MOVERAS Part # M01037 RWD; w/ 5R55N Trans; Tag ID: YR8P-BA, C2C1073, XR814380, XR819221, C2C12376, XR832697, XR834644

Price is $1,411.79 plus a $500.00 core charge, so total is $1,911.79

Shipping is $312 for me, and it might be less for you. I am not certain if shipping to you includes the return shipping of the core.

Um... If your referring to replacing a ZF trans - the 5R55N is not a suitable replacement, although if your looking to replace the trans in your 02 S Type - the 5R55N is a direct replacement - I believe the ZF trans was available in the S-Type beginning in 2003 and up...

To reinerate - the 99-02 S-Types have the Ford 5R55N trans... and that would be the only replacement available... most trans shops have the capability to rebuild the 5R55N as it is a common Ford trans...

Thanks guys,
I knew the 5R55N was a ford tranny, but I did not know how common it was. When I saw a rebuilt for $1500, my mind thought that it was a pretty good deal, considering the cost of rebuilding a tranny, or getting a rebuilt from Jag for the 99-2002 S-types.
In the Bay Area, everything is expensive, and this tranny is most likely less than a rebuild.
