Default Recall

Hello again guys.

as I stated before. I purchased a 2000 Jaguar S-Type 4.0 V8.

I was looking threw the recall list and seen there were a few recalls on the car.

How do I know if the previous owners ever got the recall replaced.

And I am guessing that the recalls are free at the dealership if they are needed?

Like I said new to Jaguar and not sure where they had it serviced and such. I have no way of getting in contact with the previous owner as he was moving when I purchased the car.

Is there a place online that I can look to see what work has been done on the vehicle or does Jaguar hold a record of the recalls performed on the car?

Jaguar would have records of what's been done on your car. Your dealer can check for you.

+1 - When I picked up my 2000 S-Type a couple years ago I went to the dealer and had them look up the VIN. No recalls for me though, at least none that were still open.

Good Luck! As John mentioned - you can venture to the Jaguar dealer and sweet talk them into looking up recall info for your car.

Thank you for the relies guys it is greatly appreciated.

The one issue that I have now that I wish or may be a recall was the odometer. It went out on me today and have read that it is a common issue with these cars. Luckily I knew what it was when it went out. So I will track the rest for now with the OBD2 and android tracker I have.

Also heard it is expensive to replace the odometer as it has to be programmed from factory. fun fun

A very important thing to check are the chain tensioners, which are likely to need changing. Not a recall but if you have the ones that are known to fail you'll write the engine off.

Which ones are you talking about? Would like to change it if it is needed.
