Recall Jaguar says they will only replace it once?
I purchased a 03 s type in november and I got a parking brake failure pop up today. I called jaguar and they said the recall had already been replaced on my car along with 3-4 other recalls. However, I am having some sort of issues with the parking break and abs failing.
Is it true that they only replace the recalled problem once?

well, I called jag and the lady looked up my vin and said that the parking brake recall had been replaced and something with the tranny being reset had been done and all recall work avail for my car had been taken care of.
she then told me jaguar will only replace a recalled part once and after it is replaced once- we have to pay for it. that is where I was asking if there was any truth to that

Rick (joycesjag) is pointing out that when these S-Type batteries begin to fail, the car sometimes throws various warning indicators for things that are not really wrong. Sometimes it's a parking brake warning, sometimes it's a dynamic stability control (DSC) warning, and sometimes it's other things or a combination of multiple things. How does he know that? It happened to him earlier this year, and a new battery was the answer....
Keep in mind that if your car still has its factory battery, that battery is now 7 years old....

what recall? or are you confusing recall and tech service bulletins???
either way a recall once done is not a lifetime warranty. the part is replaced and it is only covered under warranty for parts failure warranty for 12 months unlimited mileage. So yes she is correct, unless the repair was done less than a year ago...
ON your issue usually the failure is the module, or the motor has bit the dust, just make sure you have a good battery with proper voltage and reserve power though as Joyce said. Battery issues cause all kinds of issues on todays heavy electronic cars

When the motor or the module fails.. Is the failure mode an inability to apply the parking brake - i.e. the car depends on the park gear to hold it in place - like any other automatic when the parking brake isn't applied, or does it fail with the brakes engaged? Or is it hit or miss.
Low battery voltage will cause a fault, and there have been people on here that have had the brakes stuck on until they put the car on a jump pack or charger.

The recall involved changing a module to one that has different electronics/programming, so it doesn't need to be done again (you can get the full details from lots of sites if you search on google). If the module then fails then it's like any failure - it just needs fixing. However, if your battery may be suspect you can see apparent failures which are just triggered by the battery.

The best aftermarket battery I've ever had in 40 years of driving is the WalMart battery sitting in my 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck right now. Installed in September 2002 and still going strong today. Cost me less than $45. I cleaned and burnished the terminals and tightened all the connections just a month or so ago. Smiled the whole time I did it. Never expected that inexpensive battery to still be powering that truck today....
Thanks for the WalMart tip, Brutal. I didn't think they sold vented batteries. Maybe they have to order them for customers here in my neck of the woods. But I'm certainly putting your information on my battery list now. Our S-Type's battery is approaching five years old. I expect to have to pull the trigger for a new one sooner rather than later....
