Each of my posts has a link to acronyms.

You can read up on P1000/P1111 with a simple Search (or in the workshop manual or just the codes PDF - both are free to download).

>What is OBD and what are the P1000 and P1111's?

That stands for On-Board-Diagnostics, you use a OBD reader plugged into the socket below the steering wheel to read the "engine codes". Any auto parts store would be happy to plug their reader into you car and let you know what codes show up (they will want to sell you whatever is necessary to correct the problem...). P1000/P1111 are two of the codes that may be stored.

No, the battery did not have enough cranking power to activate the starter, but had ample to maintain settings. Personally, in the 50+ years I have been tinkering with cars, have I ever seen a battery so dead that it would not still run the radio or the horn wouldn't honk! Not saying it's not possible, just that I have never experienced one.

A battery may well still be producing 12 volts with a very small load.. As soon as the starter is switched on there is a massive draw on the battery of 150-200amps. This is when the battery voltage drops below the minimum required for the ECU to function..Even my Yamaha outboard that will turn over at 10volts but there will be no spark.
