Default Regional section add on!

Hi all, I just wanted to highlight something that ( sovereign ty ) one of our new members asked me a short while ago.
He asked about a regional section to allow discussion between members who live relatively close to one another and can organise Jagaur meets / events etc.
Obviously as the US is such a large country and accounts for the majority of our members this seemed like a good idea.
I have spoken with Patrick and run it by him and he seems ok with it, but we just need some input from the regular members as to what would be the preferred option here.
Patrick offered up the regional section as an alternative to the current setup ( as far as I could understand ) which I think may be too radical a change from where we are at present.
I see it as a good " add on " allowing like minded members within a geographical area to organise events / meets and the like.

Any thoughts and or suggestions on this?

Cheers

Jim

It sounds fine to me except that there seems to be very few people that post of the forum. It looks like several people read posts but only a few participate. AT least that is what I see in the S-Type and Detailing section. Maybe there is more action in the other sections.

Hey there reddrawf, nice to see you around again.
I've read a few of your posts in the detailing section...........nice!
You take really good care of her from the posts I've seen.

I know what you're saying and it certainly seems true, there does seem to be a lot of loitering n looking but no posting, what can you do?
With regard to frequency, certainly the X type forum is a much busier section as yopu will seefrom the post count if you look. Biggie, an S type owner usually visits there frequently too.
I'd suggest that all we can do is put it out there for everyones benefit and see if it flys or not?

As an XJ8 and S owner I would be interested in such an arrangement.

I think the add on can only help for the better. People will either choose to post in there or to just do the same thing they've been doing, and lie dormant. At least for those of us who DO make posts, we can isolate each other and see how close we are in the event we wanna meet up etc. As for me personally, I relocate between the Northeast and Southeast, so I'll be looking in at least 2 of the regional sections myself.

Seems like a good idea, but it all depends how much interest people show.
As others have said there seem to be a lot of lurkers and not too many posters, though this may be because many posts are asking for technical help and most owners are not able to offer assistance but are interested in the answers.
Maybe a more social area will work.

Nice one 03 - I hope it helps to make the forum better and more accessible and funfor all

Norri - Happy New Year mate, Nice to see you around. There's a lot of lurkers who don't seem to post for whatever reason. Re the technical side of it. I'm not the most technically gifted person but try to hep when I can, and still enjoy seeing the answers to questions posted, as well as having the craic and getting to know fellow members. Isn't that what the whole bloddy things about?..lol

So some on you lurkers.....Get postin and join in. After all, its your forum too!

Only this year so it's not so bad yet.

Anyway I have a question, in the regional section next to the post count there is also a score, my score is 0 (I think everybody else is the same) so what is the score and how can I improve? 0 can't be good. The score thingy doesn't show up in the other areas.
