Remote frequency, kind of long??

Remote frequency, kind of long??
OK, I have been reading all I can on "search" and have not yet found what I want, so here goes.
This is "her" 8/2001 S Type.
The car has ALL the keys and 2 remotes. NOT the switchblade style. The remotes are 3 button units, and VERY seperate to the keys.
One remote works, just fine, needs new button pads, so be it.
The other NO good. Dismantled the dud unit, and some fool has tried to resolder the 3 micro switches, and there is soooooo much solder all over the place it is a lost cause.
Dealer wants serious $$ for one.
Locksmith discussion today, and it is deemed to be the same fob as the Mazda Tribute, Ford Territory, etc down here, BUT, the frequency the Jag works on is a mystery at the moment. I thought they could "read" the working unit, but that fell on deaf ears I think??.
Does anyone know the frequency the "Downunder" cars operated on with this seperate fob arrangement??. They claim they can "clone" the Mazda unit if the Jag frequency is known??.
I have looked at the ribbons in the rear screen (like the X300), and NO frequency clue (unlike the X300 with 315Mhz clearly visible), so still in the dark.
Thanks in advance as usual.

I *believe* that the 4xx mhz frequency is only used in the UK and JP.
If the remote on the X300 is 315mhz the other is likely to be the same because frequency spectrum allocation is federally regulated in most countries including yours.
However, the markings on the backlight are not a reliable indicator.
Do all of your remotes contain "315" on the back somewhere? Usually the last 3 digits of the US FCC type approval.
The parts catalog may provide a clue based on country breaks.
BTW, the crystal oscillator on the remote circuit board may be marked. Mine are marked 315mhz, but are not AU market. If yours are marked, then that would be definitive.

I think your SLCM is in the driver's door so look at it for the frequency (it should be labeled).
I know that some of the FORD keyfob transmitters were compatible because I configured one to an early X200 about 10 years ago. I think it was for a Ford Explorer.
Each Country has it's own laws for frequencies.

JEPC was completely cryptic given that it seems to use implied double negatives in the exceptions list.
JTIS offers this little clue in the S-Type section:
- Three button transmitter (Europe/Japan)
- Four button transmitter (North America/Rest of the World)
but does not mention frequency itself.
