Remote stopped working!
I bought my 2004 S-type few weeks ago! Suddenly the remote stopped working! I thought it’s the battery, I changed the battery and nothing changed, then I thought it was a fuse, I changed the fuse for anti theft and still didn’t work! I think I need to re-program it, can someone tell me how to do that? Because it is pretty expansive to do it by the dealer!
Thanks in advance!

When my remote stops working I have found that it is because the battery has lost its connection. There is a small piece of metal that provides part of the contact. There is a tiny piece of plastic that it clips into that holds it in place. Fiddling with that to restore the contact works for me. After a while it works lose again, so I do the same again.
You could try that before you go for reprogramming.

That wouldn't affect the remote. Delta has the right idea. If messing with the contacts doesn't work then the dealer is the only choice. For security reasons they are the only ones that can pair remotes to the car.

Here is the description from the owners manual for the valet switch.
There is a picture as well. It basically locks the trunk.

That's a good one Delta!
The way I found out about the switch is when I thought the trunk button stopped working. I made an appointment with the dealer to fix it then doh realized that the valet switch was on. I hadn't used it myself either....They don't have valet parking at the grocery store or the McDonalds drive through....

Before you get ripped by a dealer you might wanna try this from how stuff works;
- Turn the ignition key on and off eight times in less than 10 seconds. This tells the security system in the car to switch over to programming mode.
- Press a button on all of the transmitters you want the car to recognize. Most cars allow at least four transmitters.
- Switch the ignition off.
