My armrest latch broke a couple of weeks ago. I purchase a newer used armrest. I tried to get the arm rest off, but found that after you remove the 2 torque screws, there are bosses on the bottom of the hinge that prevents you from removing the hinge through the narrow gap between the plastic center console and the sheet metal that holds it together.
I didn't have time to figure out how to remove the center console, so gave up and replaced only the latch where the plastic cable holder had broken.
If you remove the center console, please post images of how you removed it and how long it takes.

yes I had to remove the air vent at the back of the center console you can get to from the rear passenger area it just pulls out I use a trim removal tool there are then 2 torque screws holding the rear of the center console remove those then all you need to do is lift the rear of the console high enough to get that silver torque bolt out then slide out the arm rest slide in the replacement and put it back together again job done I think with the 2 torque screws removed from the console I think it just un clips but it is not needed to remove the arm rest

Can you post an image of the trim removal tool you used. I tried to get the back air vent out, and was not able to do so. I tried using a universal trim tool but the plastic started making cracking sounds, so I gave up trying to remove the vent. As I posted, a lot of my interior plastic is becoming brittle, and I don't want to break it.

this is the one I use they come in a set of 4 diffrent sizes they are fairly soft so don't damage your trim got them on ebay that back vent is quite tight Iused the tool on the lower part of the vent so prissed up one side then prissed the other side so pulled the bottom of the vent and gave a slight firm tug and it came out
