Replace ECM = reprogram key?

Replace ECM = reprogram key?
I have a persistent p1633 that I'm trying to solve with a second ECM for my S-type. Popped it in today and completely forgot that it might need the immobiliser reprogrammed with my existing key. Of course it would not start.
True? Does the ECM swap require a trip to the dealer? Does the Valet key work?

DONT GO TO DEALER! lol I just had a locksmith who specialized in car keys and fobs come to my house an make me 3 keys for my car and a locksmith (if you get the right guy) will come and program your key for much cheaper than the dealership and he will do it in the comfort of your own driveway!

The PTEC needs to be configured to the car. The keys are programmed to the instrument pack. The instrument pack and the ECM (PTEC) challenge each other several times for correct info and then if they agree, the instrument pack allows the starter to operate and the ECM allows the engine management (spark/fuel). The early S-Types have the ECM/TCM as a single module (PTEC powertrain electronic control) so no CAN bus, but it does have an SCP network. You cannot put a different PTEC in the car as it has not been configured to the rest of the network.
When the cars first came out we were warned not to swap modules without first calling Jaguar tech hotline because some modules could not be swapped from car-to-car. I went to S-Type (New product 2000) training in California and there was a guy from a Penske owned dealer that had a new 2000MY S-Type that was having problems (I don't remember what) so they swapped modules from a similar car on the showroom floor to the customer's car and then BOTH cars would not start and run.
They managed to get the customer's car running with a new part, but the showroom car was still disabled weeks after and Jaguar engineers had to get involved to try to diagnose the problem.
If you have a PECUS error in the display you will have to find someone with PDU,WDS,IDS etc.(Jaguar software) to attemp a configure module procedure.
