Time for the nerdy me to distinguish the 03 from the 05 (Note the only body difference between an R and base are body color bits and grill) the 05 has an updated rear bumper, tail lamps, and deck lid. Even the base car has the black plastic that runs across the bottom of the bumper from tip to tip. The nose was updated with a new hood, bumper, and grill....
One note about the 05 R...It is the only year that the strip on the trunk that runs between the tail lamps is body color. From 06 and up it is chrome just like a base car...

George I will get you those dimensions tomorrow. Looking at all of the S's stock rears, it seems as though stock is 1/3 of the size of my tips, interesting. Once I have a kid and become a "respectable gentleman" I may have to tone down the exhaust a little bit because that sh*t is LOUD.
The perfect STR = everything 05 + EXCEPT an 03-04 front end including fog lights....man that would be sweetness.

Joe - I can see it on yours, yes!
I think the roughly equivalent part on my 2004 STR is body color (will go look at some point), which makes more sense than a black part down there on a silver car. No chrome on mine
Arguably not even the exhaust as I've not got the carbon off so far
(Not sure how rough I dare be.)
Thanks for the photos, everyone!

Thanks, Guys, for all the informative replies. I also bought a "4.0" chrome decal to put on the other side of the trunk lid. This is just to play with the minds of all the French drivers - who tailgate all the time. Since they mostly drive tiny cars fitted with lawn-mower engines the concept of a 4.0 litre V8 really makes them pucker up!

As long as the picture is web based all you have to do is right click on it and select just "copy". Then I right click on my reply and select "Paste"...It is real simple...Some web sites are slick and have a way to prevent it. Jaglovers is one. A different picture shows up. But most work...As I am html challanged as well...

Absolutely love the fact that on the 05 it is body color. Everything else is, no reason to put a random chrome strip on the boot lid (for englishmen) / trunk lid (for americanos)

And oh, what is your exhaust? Mufflers and tips? Maybe we might be able to work something out.... I on the other hand am wife and childless so maybe it's the right setup for me lol.

George, i have some pics up on previous threads that show my exhaust from underneath. Its cat back, replaced those huge mufflers with small high-flow one's, also put those tips on, may be glass packs. Not sure, but it is very loud. An F-150 with exhaust aint got sh*t on me! haha.........seriously

Joe - what's behind the middle grille at the bottom of the front bumper? That's where the - single, quite large - oil cooler is on my 2004. Yours will, I believe, have a small one behind each grille where the fogs would otherwise be. Have a look - are they there? I've only seen them on a parts diagram but they look almost a cube (well, not a cube but hey, a brick or some such) whereas the one I have is easily twice as long (judging by the parts pic).
My car also has a PAS radiator in the middle (looks a bit like a bottle washer IIRC).
I just can't figure out what's in the space where my oil cooler is!
