Replacing door glass? Diy or no?

Ok so Apparently someone decided that they wanted whatever was in my car...
I was in the Tropicana Casino parking garage in Atlantic City.
I come out and the car looks like it has bird poop all over the passenger window. Granted it was late, I was tired and I didn't pay it too much attention.
I come home, sleep, wake up and go to windex the window only to realize that it wasnt poop but rather the outer layer of the glass chipped and scratched. Basically someone tried to break the window, and hit it several times with something. The other layer of the window has several gouges and chips in it.
Fortunately they didn't manage to break the window, but it's still unsightly, and I need to get the glass replaced. I found used glass on ebay for a reasonably cheap price, but I'm wondering if I should attempt to replace the glass myself, or just take it to my guy to do it.
Also, with the car being an 03 and ready to turn 100k miles, should I do a window regulator in the door while the car is out. There is no current problem with the regulator.
Thanks in advance,
George

The regulators appear better in the later cars, but there again you're going to disturb it.
DIY or someone else - depends how much he wants to charge and what you're willing to pay!
I'd probably DIY as I've done it on other cars and it's fiddly and time-consuming but there's the satisfaction of a job done

I've done it on many cars and it has never been difficult unless you have to pull out broken glass from inside and in the track...once it was hit just right that i was digging for 30 minutes to clean the glass out of the door...fairly simple..i would classify it as a mederate to easy repair.. about as difficult as changing brake pads on a cavalier only thing to be careful is removing the door skin..the clips are always a bugger.. I bought a pspecial screwdriver with a fork at the end on an angle to pop those anoying clips safely.
Never done it on a jag.. god knows you may have to synchronize the barcode on the window with the main computer and get it blessed by the pope to work with your car lol

If some has come across a DIY for the front and/or rear window regulator, or photos, please post or PM me.
I have the front and rear plastic clips for the X Type that are prone to break and cause the window to
- tilt and go up slow
- go up slow and reverse
- drop entirely
- not moving (but motor turning)
I am trying to collect DIY info so the window can be fixed without the need to buy the expansive, entire regulator.
Let me know.

Brutal is right, it is easy. I did it today on my 2001 s-type. I would replace the regulator and motor. Got one at Autozone in stock for 85usd. I dont think it is about the motor or relay, but about the clips, they break when they are old. The motor and regulator come with new clips. It took about three hours, but I am no expert. The only programming issue is that when the window gets to the top and is seated properly you hold the up button for six seconds.
