Restricted performance codes p0171 p0174 check engine light
So I had the check engine light come on and the display read "restricted performance". The restricted performance would come up upon starting the car and disappear after driving for a mile or so but the engine light would stay on.
Took the car to pep boys and had them read the codes: p0171 and p0174, lean on banks one and two. Did some searching on this site and looked around for vacuum leaks. I am not very mechanically inclined but I did find a loose hose. I have included pics to help others who might have the same problem.
I restarted the car and the restricted performance is gone but the check engine light is still on. I imagine it will reset after a few cold starts, is this correct?
Many thanks.

Put a cable tie around that hose on the fitting to hold it tight.
That hose goes from the outlet of the supercharger to the fuel pressure sensor.
It see's vacuum at idle, but boost under load.
Mine was loose, but at the other end, at the fuel pressure sensor. You should also check the other end and put some cable ties around the joints.

About how many restarts does it take to clear the engine code? I have about 5 so far and the CEL still lights up (I only fixed it earlier today). Is there a required wait time between starts?
I also forgot to mention that after the CEL light came on, I noticed a thick soot deposit on the tailpipes and visible exhaust gases from the tailpipe. It might not have been smoke but just exhaust gas, it was at night (about 64 degrees) when the car was first started and lasted for a couple minutes (I could only see it when the car was stopped), I didn't see any visible gas when I arrived home.
I could still see the gas tonight (after my fix), it was about 67 degrees out and I had gone out to dinner and could see faint traces of smoke/gas when the car was stopped. Got home and held a flashlight to the exhaust and saw nothing. So my question is, does the STR normally "show" exhaust gas when the engine is cold?. My old Hyundai doesn't show much unless the environment is fairly cold (e.g. in the 50's).
