I have a 2004 S-Type R and the restricted performance light came on for the second time in the past 30 days. The first time it happened codes were P1474 & P1582 or (Inter cooler water pump & flight data recorder) jag took care of these problems but during the 30 days after the work the light has popped on and off 2 but now it is just constistantly on. I bought this car used and I have only had it for 37 days now, I am just wondering if this is a common problem or I got a lemon.

The original codes said Water Pump, check on that, not sure if that will trigger restrictive performance, but in my case it might be a vacuum leak, like in my case a mechanic ran a smoke machine around the engine and found small vacuum leaks behind the supercharger. I replaced the egr valve which was cracked Egr tube and several other plastic pieces which over time crack and turn into brittle. While I was in there changed the pulley and changed all the belts. The system has to be completely sealed or you will get that, i had several codes in there and addressed them all at once. How many miles does it have?

mesmerizing, can you tell us the codes that were found on your car? Engine light and RP message doesn't necessarily scream 'coils' or O2 sensor.
And, just to see in the future, if you have the codes that say these two possible causes, would you please start a new thread asking your original question. It is important to keep the original topic unchanged in each thread to keep from jumping around too much and getting confused. Thanks for understanding.
To the OP, my condolences, and I recommend a new dealer look at your car, or better yet, call around and find an independent mechanic that has some experience with Jags. That P1000 code interpretation by that dealer is just plain silly.

Well the car is going back to the shop (a different one) on thursday, its still pulling up the water pump malfunction, even though I have replaced it. They are going to put new wires on it, if this doesn't work then they figure their is a communication problem with one of the computers. Anyways when the car runs well I love it.

Well they figured it out, the dealership that installed the new supercharger water pump mounted the wiring harness incorrectly. They put it between 2 pieces of plastic and under high engine torque it would pinch so much it would lower the voltage to the pump. What a stupid little thing, the total amount of money spent on trying to find this problem, 2 different dealerships and a total of 1903.46 no parts just labour lol
