Default Retrofit Bluetooth - 2005 Diesel

Hi

Picked up a bluetooth module from an x-type on ebay - module number 7W93 10D893 AB;

Stripped out the carpet, removed the audio stack. Behind the plate held on with 4 10mm bolts is the voice control module, and the plug for the Bluetooth module. The unit is a slightly different size than the original so I attached it to the back of the plate with self adhesive Velcro. I then redid the optic so it went from the bluetooth to the voice module, then onto the stack. I didnt add a bluetooth aerial as it on order...but...bingo;

Seems to work well, even without the aerial...

Rob

Nice. I did the same with a voice module. Amazing the price difference ebay vs brand new. In my case 75.00 vs 1100.00. Then add another 400.00 for install. It is really cool of jaguar to have the plug ins in place for the options. Another reason i love this car.

Yep...simple. the module was £60 on eBay and an hour of faffing around.

I made my own fiber optic lead - the phone module came with on so I just took it apart and rerouted everything.

I mean the diagnostic connector and software for reprogramming

Yes the voice module will need to be reset to 'learn' what others are on the system.
The same needs to be done if you fit a CD changer.
The black box 7W39 bluetooth module is far better than the older metal box 2x93 module. It has the signal reading and can be paired with more than one bluetooth phone at a time and it does not require the BTUM module in the center glove box.
If you do not have the D2B fiber lead you can purchase a single lead and use that as the connectors can be disassembled and an extra plug added.

There is more involved with fitting the bluetooth module without the voice unit.

Yes I've already fitted the cd changer, voice doesn't see that either.

The Bluetooth came with an optic cable and I disassembled it to extend the loop 😀

Same here with the CD changer. I did get a Mongoose connector and I have also set up an old XP laptop with the correct SDD software and date etc. I even have a 30A stabilised power supply to connect during the process, but I have not yet had the nerve to try and update the voice unit!!To be honest even with the jaguar manual I am a bit unsure about how to use the SDD software to reset the unit, and last time I plugged it all in the software did not see several of the modules anyway. I think this may have been a voltage issue as I did not have the power supply connected, but it could be that the modules already have a later update than that on the SDD software I have?? I will have another go some time with the 30A PSU connected.
