what color will look best when painting factory wheels depends what color your car is, when i repainted my factory 18" zues wheels on the STR, i went with an OEM looking silver,
personally, i find factory black painted wheels to be really tacky looking; it just screams, 'i'm self concious about my stock wheels but couldn't afford aftermarket ones, so i just painted them black"

However, I disagree and believe that refinishing and painting/coating stock wheels to be updated to match what is in style is a very efficient way to change the look of your car without having to shell out thousands of dollars and take a bunch of risk that the fitment might be off. I have the best of both worlds on my Camaro. They are oewheelsllc.com reproduction style C4 five spoke rims that are powder coated black with a machined lip (275's and 315's). It doesn't look tacky and actually just like stock, but more like a lingenfelter slightly modified stock.
Did some google searching, here is what I found:

I am really liking the above w/ the red calipers. Thinking I am going to copy this.

black barcelona's actually look amazing on white.
probably the only time black will look good, perfect combo

Did someone mention Fender Flares?
I believe this is the first image I've posted of my work in progress for my wide fender flare project. Remember, I'll be running 345s in the back and 285s in the front. Flares are 4" wider in the back, 3+ in the front.
What you see are flare shapes with expansive foam inside and Bondo on the outside.
After I am pleased with the shape and finish, I'll make a mold over the flares, then make the actual flares inside the plug. Lots and lots of work to go.
I have been working on the rocker panel, slowly getting the flares to blend with the rocker.

Correct, the Black fender is just a donor fender. It just happens to be a STR fender. The car itself is a 2000 S-type sport. Just for continuity, this is the car that I put a LS3 Camaro engine back in 2010/2011. It is also the car I am building up a rear sub-frame with a Mark 8 carrier with LSD, and am using Corvette C5/C6 spindles and wheels.
It will run someday...
Hopefully before I grow old and die....

Since my plan is to make a mold for the 4 fenders and the rocker panels, making more flares will always be a possibility. It is more a matter of how long this project will take me to complete. I do not have a good track record at moving things forward.
The other variable is whether or not you like the look... I favor functionality over aesthetics.
