Default Road Trip MA to MD

Had a blast yesterday driving back to Maryland from Massachusetts in my '07' 3.0 S Type. Had to leave my wife in Massachusetts to care for sick sister, so it was just me and the other love of my life. Six glorious hours cruising in the fast lane. The Jag performed beautifully, dodging shredded truck tires at 75mph & blowing by jealous Mercs, Bimmers, & Audi's. Most people don't know much about the S-Type, some thinking it's a new Jag and even one guy who asked if it was a Bentley!

The great thing is I get to do it all again next week. Enclose is a photo. Still looking fantastic at 71,358 miles.

Resting easy & ready for another run.

That's going to upset the Chrysler 300 Bentley wannabees.

Yeah & that's too bad. I think it's the round headlights that throw them off they're similar to the Bentley.

Glad you enjoyed the trip. Good looking car you've got there. I think that the S class is under appreciated. If you get a chance look at you tube for old Jaguar commercials featuring your car, Jaguar made some really beautiful commercials for their cars. Drive and enjoy! Repeat as necessary.

Thanks, you're right about the commercials. Too bad they didn't play much in the USA. I especially like the one where the wife takes a drive in her husbands S Type, while he's taking a nap. Here's a link:

I got a lot of compliments on my car at this year's Watkins Glen VR festival. Mine is Jaguar Racing Green.

Then a month later out of the blue at my bank parking lot a woman maybe ten years older than me stopped got out of her car and told me how fantastic she though it was that I was driving a Jaguar like this in British Racing Green. That's OK. Her ex husband and she used to go to the same event going many years back.

Spontaneous joy happens ... GD good thing too for all the you know what reasons!

Did you get to "Drive the Glen?" I was up there last year on a road trip w/my grandson & had a ball driving the Glen. You're only supposed to drive @ no more than 55MPH. But I was behind a guy in a new Vette. He was hitting 75 on the straightaways, so I just followed him around. Great Fun! Mine is also BRG and I think because of the color, it gets noticed a lot.Anyway,

enjoy your Jag!

Yes but the on track experience something of a let down for me since I've tracked my race car there many times. Going around with a bunch of fellow Jag owners is still fun as we exit and do a couple laps through town on the old circuit and have dinner at the Seneca Lodge. It's a big social event and not really a performance driving event. It really couldn't be except for the real vintage racers. It's a fun weekend event. Man there were a ton of E-types there.

Is this a yearly event?

I did a California to Montana and return trip in June. At a rest stop in eastern Montana a family with a brand new Mercedes SUV were very complimentary of my S-type asking if it was a new model, as it still had the used car dealer's report of sale displayed in the right hand corner of the front window. They also invited me to join them in their picnic lunch! My other car is an E-class Benz and it never garners compliments, except from friends who occasionally admire its condition for a 15 year old car...

The one at the Glen, yes. This year Jaguar was the featured marque so it was a bit different.
