Now have a 2000 S-type with 90000 and experience rough idle, took car buy autozone and no codes.
Suggestions???
Also just glanced at the engine and did not see spark plug wires are they behind a cover?
Thanks for your help

Sam if your gonna chase a bad coil around, I would go ahead and invest the few dollars it would take to change out both intake gaskets. To be completly honest with you I would change all 6 coils. With 90,000 miles I would say that once you change one it won't be long before you'll be changing another, then another, ect, ect, ect.

I worked on a S-Type last week that had a bad coil. Extended warranty only covered the bad coil.
Car came back yesterday with a different coil that went bad.

its not a hard job. just get a 7mm wrench or socket and remove the two plastic covers from the tops of the valve covers and voila theres your coils. you can get coils from any major autoparts store just have them look up a 2000-2002 Lincoln LS V8. Same exact engine just different intakes. I think they were like 48 dollars each last time i checked.
As previously mentioned a proper scan tool (matco, snapon, Genesis, ect) will have a misfire counter per cylinder and it will tell you where to start as far as coil replacement. I have replaced one thusfar and i think im gonna have to do another soon. intermittently has bad idle.
Good luck.
