rough idle when on cold starts...
Hello,
This has probably been answered before so forgive me. My wife has a 2000 S-Type 6 cyl. and lately it's been idling rough in the morning, but after about 10min it tapers off and is back to normal. At times the engine would almost drop out, but catches itself to stay on. I have done the normal maintenance such as changing oil, replace spark plugs, replace air cleaner, and also went as far as replacing the valve gasket. My wife has a habit of driving off with the car on cold starts and I had always thought that cars at least needed to warm up before taking off because of the oil has been sitting for awhile. Anyways. my next thoughts that it might be the MAF sensor or there's this black electronic device that's attached to the carburetor, which controls the butterfly valve,(sorry don't know that name of the sensor at moment). I did managed to run a OBDII scanner on the car and found a P1589 trouble code. I'd appreciate any help, advice, or feedback on this issue and thanks in advance...

Welcome to the forum Jag_jed,
Here is the extract from the Jaguar DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) listing for P1589:
The symptoms match those you have experienced but the 'possible cause' of throttle failure is concerning. I have no direct experience of the V6 but members with this model will know if cleaning or adjustment is likely to resolve the issue.
When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.
