Did you bleed the system and install the thermostat in the 12 o'clock position?

Did you test the new one before installation? I don't have access to my manuals at the moment, but I think these thermostats operate backwards compared to typical ones. When cold, the Jaguar type is open and routes coolant through a passage that bypasses the radiator. When hot, the thermostat closes, sealing off the bypass, and coolant is thus routed through the radiator. Can anybody confirm this?

That's your issue more than likely. Do not drive the car until it is properly bled... Otherwise, you will do irreversible damage to the cooling system or engine..

I thought bleeding was the issue. Anyway, decided it was time to replace the serpentine and sc belts so new water pump, upper/lower rad hoses are going in as well. (Just turned 100K) Rough getting the fan housing out of this car but everything is now cleared out and just waiting for the pump to arrive. Have to order a manual on ebay for the bleeding routine as I still can't find how on this forum.
