Default S type 2.7d sport 2006-smoke from bonet

Hello, I bought a Jaguar S Type diesel second hand 2006. I always loved this model.
Unfortunately the second day of driving the car, it happened to me a strange thing began to come out black smoke from the left side of the bonnet and smelled of smoke inside the car. I stopped opening the bonnet and saw smoke coming out the left side but do not know where it came from. Shortly after leaving the smoke left and never left during this trip.
A few days later it happened again the same but with more intensity, and then left again to leave.
Please contact me about what causes this smoke, which is very embarrassing and troublesome not only for the smell but because it creates insecurity to those going in the car.
Thanks, Carlos Araújo - cdaraujo@netcabo.pt - Portugal.

Not enough to go on?? This has not been reported before BUT this is a US forum and nobody has a diesel here. Your problem sounds like it is linked to the diesel but am not sure.

Sounds like the fuel-fired heater but it should be warm enough that it should stay off I'd think. You'd do much better being on Jaguar Forum.co.uk • Index page as there are many diesels here.

Well, I'm on this forum, and I have an S-type 2.7 D. The forum has been very useful to me.
Your handbook should say if you have a diesel-powered heater in your car, but they don't all have this heater, mine doesn't f'rinstance. Probably if the car was made for a very cold place like Canada you would have a heater.

None were made for Canada because the diesels were never made for or sold in America (the continent).

"A very cold place like Canada" -- is the written statement. Too obvious to mention of course, but there are other cold places in the world. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Also, people do personally import cars from anywhere to anywhere. Sorry for stating the bleedin' obvious as Paddy Ashdown might say.

Practically impossible to import a diesel into any country with tight emissions, homologation etc laws - such as Canada.

He's in Portugal, more use if you stick to the actual poster's issue.

Not quite right -- vehicles over 15 years old in Canada have no restriction (so your older Jag. is ok), and as the att. shows, there are many personal imports that meet safety regs. in grey vehicle imports. These are daytime running lights, immobilization, odometer labelling re. Kmh and mph. Incidentally, Canadian regs. appear to be harmonized with US. There have been challenges to Canadian import laws.
As regards relevance contributing, a quick scan through posting generally reveals many contributions are "off the point". The value of these contributions may well have general interest.

To finalize: Carlos' problem turned out to be the left side catalyzer. Now fixed, job done.
There never was a diesel heater.
