Default S-Type 3.0L V6 Steering pump and additional spare parts

Hi Guys,

I need your help again.
I have a Jaguar S-type 3.0L V6 from 1999 (VIN: SAJAA01E6XFL15986) and my steering pump just died.

I need the items 1, 3 and 6, but I am not aware of the part numbers.
I have found this
https://www.euspares.co.uk/parts/oen/xr814993e
I am not aware if that includes item 1 and 3.

Can anyone of you help finding the part numbers for item 1, 3 and 6?
It would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Morten

Hi Morten,

We'd like to help, but I think you forgot to include a link or illustration with these item numbers.

The pic sure helps...

If I understand correctly, you need the pump, pulley and one of the hoses? What is the problem with the pulley? Normally those last forever. New or rebuilt pumps typically come without the pulley, and you have to swap it over from the old pump to the new. I've changed plenty of power steering pumps on different vehicles, and in all cases the existing pulley was just fine and only had to be transferred to the new pump. This arrangement makes it much easier for the parts supplier. The pump itself is usually fairly universal, used on a wide variety of models. The pulley is usually vehicle specific. It would be a nightmare to stock pumps and pulleys pre-assembled because of the many variations.

Here's the type of special puller/installer required:

https://www.lislecorp.com/specialty-...-pulley-puller

I'm not positive that will work on Jaguar, but it has fit all other vehicles I've tried. Don't let the price scare you. I vaguely remember it was much cheaper on Amazon. Other brands are available, too, but stay away from cheap Chinese versions. I tried one and it kept slipping off. The difference with Lisle was like night and day.

For the hose #6, that is not going to be included with the pump. You will have to purchase that separately. If a replacement is too expensive, some local hydraulic shops can fabricate a replacement using the existing end fittings and new flex hose in the middle. I've had this done on several occasions and it worked great.

Hi Karl,

Thanks a lot for your reply and advices.
Do you think that this spare part
https://www.euspares.co.uk/parts/oen/xr814993e
includes the pulley?

Regarding the hose part, you dont know the Jaguar spare part number? I will try to find it as used part then. It is leaking.

Best regards
Morten

Per the picture, it is included. I'd contact the vendor first just to be sure.

I like to use this website for looking up OEM part numbers:

https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic...e=C51572847134

Maybe go to the start menu and make sure I've got all the details correct. But it looks like you'll want part number XR846253. Search online for that part and you should find many vendors, hopefully something close to you.

The early S-Type used a FORD rack and the pump/ fittings were different from the later ZF rack and pump/fittings.

Be sure to order by VIN to get the correct parts.

Jaguar issued a TSB about the teflon seal and quick-fit connectors.

As Karl and Bob have said double check vin to part application and the pulley swap is straight forward. Check rockauto they have a few choices
