Short version: car designed in 2000. Tech has changed in those 15 years. You can't do it easily and cheaply.

Decide your budget.

Thank you very much JagV8. anyway no another way to do it?? i have seen many cars (older that s-type) install the aux input by using the aux adapter. i have been wondering that if its would be possibly to install in s-type.

acm is great but is twice the price of veffbox, and no BT
and quite hard to find second hand at a reasonable price ,
also controls and format for searching music is not easy as well.
also three times the effort to install.
take this into account .

Yes it will work but won't sound very good , it's FM modulated ! Normally quite a bit less voume and clarity than normal radio stations and cd quality !
If that's your budget then it will do I guess!

Hello and welcome,

I have a different verson from iSimple: ISFM22. I did not see the IS7705 when I purchased mine. From what I know now, I probably would have purchased the one you're looking at.

The IS7705 uses a direct cable connection between the iPhone and the FM modulator. Mine uses a Bluetooth connection. Mine works okay, but Bluetooth was never designed for high quality audio transmission, so some music has that echo-like, recorded in a bathroom sound. I don't believe you'll have that problem with a direct data cable connection.

I keep my iPhone on a dash-mounted dock with a built-in charging cable, powered by a separate hidden USB charger. I like your version, with the data cable also acting as a charger. If you want to keep your phone in a dock, you'd probably have to modify it somewhat to work with the iSimple cable.

I looked at the Amazon reviews. It appears the cable end of the IS7705 has had lots of reliability issues. It would probably be fine if the cable is permanently fitted to a dock, but if you'll be plugging and unplugging the cable by hand, I doubt it will hold up. I highly recommend a dock, because to change songs, etc., you must access your iPhone. You don't want to be messing around with your phone loose on the console or dash.

Another issue is the on/off switch supplied with the kit. It is very big, almost 3/4" in diameter. I replaced it with a tiny toggle switch from Radio Shack.

If you'd rather go a different route without any wiring or need for a switch, there are plenty of FM transmitters out there. Most are inexpensive units that plug into your cigarette lighter, with no wiring connections. Just set your radio to the FM output of the transmitter, and you're all set. Some versions use a Bluetooth connections between your iPhone and the transmitter. Others use a cable. Both types are adequate. I used to have a special FM transmitter dock for my iPhone 4 (with the big connector) and it worked great. I recently upgraded my phone, and couldn't find anything kind of transmitter dock with the new, smaller connector. I'd have gone that route for simplicity if available.

This is an old thread but if someone searches for this, there are ways to add aux to S-type, for instance:

Aux input adapter

JagAux adapter

Thx just used the link and saved $30 compared to eBay’s price. Let’s hope it arrives. I’ve never shopped from a uk website before.
