Welcome to the forum marciajune,
A clicking starter solenoid is a good indication of a discharged battery and if the alarm has been activated it will certainly have contributed to this.
I've moved your question from General Tech Help to S-Type forum. This is the place to post questions about your model.

S-types are particularly sensitive to battery voltage. It sounds like your battery is pretty well discharged. First step is to get the battery charged up and checked out, or replaced if necessary. Even a partially discharged battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins in an S-type.
