S-Type door latch - Help a newbie with an issue!
Hello all,
I have a 2004 S-Type jag. The drivers door is shut and won't open with the interior or exterior handles.
I pulled back the door panel as much as I could (with the door shut). I can move the rod that connects to the latch module and I can hear the electric lock run for about two seconds, but the latch does not disengage. I moved another rod that opens the exterior handle, still no joy. I pulled the cover off of the passenger side door and if I pull the same rod the latch opens.
Has anyone had this issue, and hopefully solved it
Thanks!

That top thread actually led me to this site
Unfortunately, the door is shut so I have very limited access.
I have isolated the issue to some degree, but without a good diagram or schematic of the latch module I'm flying blind. I'm planning on calling a shop to get a quote. If it's unreasonable I plan on removing the one from the passenger side door and looking for a clue as to how to get it to release.
Thanks!

Well it's a tough repair and you most likely will damage your car.
This is pretty close to what you need to do. Not a great explanation I know!

One other suggestion is to get the JTIS which is free on this site. It's the factory shop manual. You will need it for other stuff too.
Patience is a real key to your repair as you are fishing blind.
If you do get it fixed please post back what you did. This will help the next guy. It was a rare problem but I am seeing it more and more so we need to get the repair figured out so it's not so hard to fix.
