Default s type engine swap

hello everyone i have a 2000 s type with the 4.0, bought it with bad headgaskets and when we tore it apart some valves were broken lone story short i bought a engine from a 01 but when i bolt the trans to the motor it wont turn over it locks up when i pull the motor out i can turn it over just fine, i am almost positive the converter is in all of the way, does a 01 have a differnt flex plate? have put the motor in and out 6 times now and help would be great thanksss

Recently (two weeks ago) there was an almost identical question as yours from a chap doing the exact swap. Check the "Search Forum Feature" for how he tackled this. If memory serves me correctly, the torque converter wasn't sat far enough on the shaft or whatever?

+1 on bfsgross recommendation - also, I need to let you know - you should have opted to get a 00 - 4.0 engine as I have seen many auto wreckers (and ebay) notate 4.0 engines from 2000 through 2001 as follows:

This part will fit these makes and models with these options

S TYPE 00 4.0L, (VIN D, 8th digit)
S TYPE 01 4.0L, thru VIN L86901 (VIN D, 8th digit)

Hopefully the 01 engine you purchased is before VIN L86901 or this could be a source of concern moving forward.

Just my $0.02
