S Type Heater problem
Hi
I purchased a beautiful White Jaguar S Type, 4.oL, V8 one month ago. The heater does not work on it, it certainly blows good cold air and the aircon is great but the heater is non existent !
I have had it in to my mechanic and he said it is the heater valve. I have just ordered a heater valve and am wondering how to put it in ? My partner has some ramps and I believe it is about a two hour job with lots of cups of tea/beers and a back massage to follow !
Is there anybody out there who has installed one of these (part number XR822975) ?
Would really love to hear from you.
Thanks.

RE: S Type Heater problem
We are currently TRYING to get the old heater valve out of my V8 and it is proving somewhat difficult !
How on earth are you supposed to get it out of that small area between the sump and the cross member ? And going in from the top looks just as tricky ?
Any advice would be great...otherwise we have to succumb to the dealer's hefty price to fit it.

I have already tried to put it through under warranty and they say it is not covered- it is quite specific in what is and isn't covered -it is one of those three year warranty's that you can purchase with the car for $500 AUD. The mechanic even tried a bit of creative wording but, alas, no luck.

RE: S Type Heater problem
Well, I have a heater that works ! Cost $680.00 all up ( I bought the part from jagspares, after market Bosch, brand new $325.00) and it took the service guys a couple of hours to fit. In Aus they charge $120.00 per hour labour.
The heat coming out of it doesn't feel that hot to me- for a European car that is used to serious minus temperatures it should be pretty hot right ?

RE: S Type Heater problem
Drive it around for aday with the windows down, set to hi temp and a low fan speed (don't cook yourself). If there is a stubborn air bubble it will bleed out.
Keep an eye on the coolant level too. If you're low and get an air bubble in there your heater will get left high and dry.
Replaced mine from the top, removing as much hosiery as needed. You NEED a heater in Canada....
