S type oil pan gasket change
The time has come for my 2006 S-type, 2.5 v6 to get its oil pan gasket replaced. Is it absolutely necessary to move the engine up in order to replace the gasket. Also, is it a job that requires adept skills in engine repairs? I have a local mechanic who does the maintenance of my "cat" but now I am not quite sure if I can trust him with that. If you guys say that the job is rather difficult I will replace the part in my local Jaguar dealer.

Here is one Rick did earlier https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ics-faq-52987/
He did raise the engine.

I have almost no technical knowedge whatsoever, so a mechanic will do the job . As far as I get it, it is not such a complicated job. I hope my mechanic can manage it. Also, I read about the gearbox and the shifter. Should they be disconnected? Is there any danger for the gearbox?
