What's everyone got as keychains for their Jaguar S-Types? Post up pictures, tell us about it.

Here's mine. I thought it was one of the most appropriate for Leona. I also wanted a keychain that had something on both sides, so I'd never lay it down and have it be just blank on one side. It also shows out nice when in the ignition, it hangs down but it's soft against my leg when it brushes against my leg at times (because it's thin denim). JbB

Another nothing! I do wish the Jaguar head would not wear off the button you push to release the switch blade key. Kind of tacky looking. But mine's now all shiny and you can't tell there was anything there.

Nothing as well. With four different vehicle key fobs and two different house keys all attached to my very plain round key ring, the last thing I need is some stupid trinket adding even more volume and heft to it....

Yeah Tbird, I know exactly what you mean about the missing growler.

Jon, there's a lot of "opinions", "to each his own" regarding things, but this isn't an opinion; having something on your keychain representing your car being "stupid" or a "trinket" is flat out wrong. Here's why.

Look at our awesome keys... they're great, high tech, I love'em... but how are they different than a Volks Wagon key? For that matter, how can anyone even tell what brand of car they belong to? Most cars, including simple keys, have the brand of car they belong to. Ours had one, but we all know the growlers wear off shortly after ownership, so now these keys to our "unique" cars (Jaguars) looks completely ambiguous.

This is why having a keychain that represents your car is more than just pride and respect of what you drive... it's a nessesity. If I drop my keys in the parking lot WITHOUT a Jaguar keychain and the keys are brought to the front desk to page the owner, ain't no one out there gonna' know they belong to a Jaguar.

The issue here isn't keychains that identify and show pride in what you drive, the issue is having four key fobs on one keychain. Getting a replacement key for our S-Typea costs like $175 or something for parts and labor, which includes taking all keys down to the dealer for reprogramming. That's why I wouldn't recommend four key fobs on one keychain... lose the one "plain round keychain", go through the replacement process for four cars instead of one.

It's cool for thoses that rock their keys all-natural... I didn't have one for two months... but let's not pretend Jaguar keychains are a henderence.

 

I have mine plain simply for practical reasons (fits easier in my pocket and doesn't jangle etc when in the lock). No valet parking here (I'm glad) so no need to identify to which car the key belongs.

 

Yeah, I'm like you JagV8 in wanting to keep a light and breezy key. That's sorta' why I consolidated down to just a house key. I choose this keychain I have because it's super thin and weights next to nothing, but allows extra... presence, to my keys so I don't risk dropping it (since I only have one other key on their currently).

 

I guess I can't load one up from Google. Rats.

In more than 42 years of driving, I've never lost a set of keys. That may eventually happen when I'm old and feeble enough for the nursing home, but by then I believe that someone will have taken my keys (and probably my cars) away from me....

As I said, I don't want to deal with any stupid trinkets on my key ring. My prerogative, not yours. Knock yourself out and hang a paving stone off your key ring if you want to....

 

Do you have the switch blade key? I don't think the early cars do but am not sure. The key and the FOB are all one piece.

03xtype, where's your Jaguar keys, I only see Mercadies keys.

Space0matic, yeah, we can see the image you posted. I guess they made the keys different between the early and late S-Types. Later S-Types had a flip-key keyfob. You push a little silver button and the key flips out. In my photo, the key's inside the keyfob, and in GT's photo, it's out.

I still like the look of the older key of S-Types. It's got a cool, vintage feel to the growler on the key. Having a speperate keyfob clearly won't be as convenient as a combined one, but it's a sure a lot more convient than not havin' a keyfob at all. JbB

 

Jag key is in the car, jag is getting tore down while I have some AMG's to drive.

Mine has two fobs, one is after market, I would presume. The key itself is beautiful, it has a black Jaguar logo face etched inside what appears to be quartz. The fob itself has the same Jaguar logo face etched into it, almost a bas relief style.
If you click on the link, and click on the picture itself, it expands even more. I was intentionally trying to get the quartz to glow, but that stuff only happens when I'm not trying to get it.
We only have 1 key, though. We bought an uncut one from one of the suppliers around here, but nobody wants to cut it for under $175, either with or without the uncut one we we would supply.
