Default S-Type R Coolant leak / Belt Squeal

I've done a search and if this needs to be moved to different forum let me know.
Vehicle: 2005 S-Type R

Problem: Cold startup has a chirping / squeal / squeak noise. Also minute losing small amounts of coolant. No visible place where coolant is leaking.

Work already performed by Jaguar dealer:
Replaced: Supercharger tensioner, idler pully, coolant hose, water pump, heater control valve.

Hose part # AJ811771 = Location of this hose?

Input?

How long ago was the work performed? Do you know if the new parts are from the service bulletin for belt noise? You can tell by looking at the belts and seeing if one of the belts has ribs on both sides. If your belt has ribs on both sides it is the latest greatest part and it does not fit if the latest greatest pulleys etc. are not installed as well. Exactly how much coolant are you losing? A small leak at the expansion tank lower hose connection nipple can allow a drop of coolant on the belts each day and any coolant on the belts will cause the squeal. That said, if when topping off the coolant ANY misses the bottle and gets on the belts you get the same problem and it's pretty much impossible to clean it from the belts.

I had the same problem with my 2000 xjr it turned out to be an O-ring fitting in one of the small plastic coolant linesaround the thermostat area. Jaguar tried to sell me the hole line but I found some o-rings at advanced auto parts.Mine had only 1 o-ring and some putty of some sorts.I used two o-rings because it looked like it should have two.I hope this helps.

Vehicle has been brought in on 3 seperate occasions; all under same circumstance. Losing coolant and "chirping / squealing noisë". Occurs at cold startup / goes away appx 10 min driving.

Dates work performed all bysameJaguar dealer:

2008 OCT: Coolant level dropped from "Max" mark to1/2 - 1inchbelow "Min" in appx 1 month. Temp gauged moved slighlty on the highway.Topped off and continued leaking.
Replaced hose: AJ811771.

2008 NOV: Coolant level dropped from "Max" mark to 1/4 below "Min" mark. Pressure tested. Leaking from seep hole. Replaced water pump.

2008 DEC: Coolant level circumstancesame as NOV. I brought in a TSB# regarding belt noise. Replaced idler pully: c2s46862. Replaced SC tensioner: c2c37057. Replaced drive belt: c2c37055. Replaced heater control valve.

The O-Ring the other poster issued seems to correlate with a Service Bullitien from 2003 April.
Real Tech: Do you have any experience with that? O-Rings /Cooling System Joints abovethe Thermostat / Water Pump?

The vehicle is under Select Edition however I live appx. 90 miles from the closest Jaguar dealer. I don't want to step on the SA / Tech's toes but rather find some info to assist them get this problem resolved.

Thanks for the advice.

I'llcheck the belt for the ribs and post back results.

Real Tech: The drive belt has ribs on both sides. The weather went below freezing last night / this morning and upon start up squealed like a banshee. Sounds like towards passenger side. Coolant level is 1/8 below MAX mark.

Regarding the expansion tank nipple, is this a connection on the bottom of the tank?

Yes, the connection at the bottom of the tank. If that hose isn't exactly square and lined up perfectly with the nipple the sideways torque keeps the o-rings there from sealing properly. I'll check the TSB and hose part number today. The service bulletin for the pulleys and new design belt normally fixes the squeal but like i said before any coolant leaking where it can get on the belts spoils the deal.

Hi Stef,

Did you follow any of the suggestions I gave you on where to start the other night? I'm sure Real_Tech will be able to make my efforts look rather sophomoric, but perhaps you could share with him the results of the preliminary tests I gave you and help him arrive at the perfect solution more easily?

I had the heater core flushed out yesterday and it know blows a bit of warm air. I don't know where else to go for there. I refilled it with the car with antifreeze as soon as they flushed the heater core. Something is still wrong maybe I need to go ahead and change the thermostst too. What do you think....?

I think that is one possibility which I wrote about the other night. Look for the part about feeling the radiator hoses after you drive the car, I think it went something like that.

I did what you told me the other night about driving for 15 min. an dto touch the hoses I touched all even the ones that go to the heater core. They were all warm and the antifreeze was full.

They should feel hot to the touch. You need to have a mechanic inspect your car, or change the thermostat and see if that helps. Wait for Real_Tech to help you otherwise.
