Default S type rear window regulator???

Greetings. I just ordered a left rear window reg/motor from Rock Auto (Dorman part # 741-372 $49.79) for 2000 Lincoln LS (my car is 2000 S type); have read that one stud is slightly off; will need to make hole bigger. However the regulator rail is about 5 inches shorter than the one I took out; dont see how it will fit!!!??? Any advice from regulator vetrens? Thanks. BTW I also replaced heater valve; used LS valve from Rock Auto (four seasons part # 74009 $ 137.79); it fit perfectly and solved my no heat condition! Jim

I used LS regulators on all 4 of my windows, are you sure they provided you with the correct regulator?

Gus that's the first I heard? I know the fronts are the same but I thought somebody had posted before that the rears are different?

Thanks, Gus. The part # they supplied is the one their web site shows for a 2000 LS. Perhaps the Jag is similar to a later model LS??? The only other thing I can think of is that it has been modified to only allow the windo to go part way down. the steel vertical rail is about 5 inches shorter than the Jag regulator I took out. I guess I will return it to Rock Auto and attempt to buy one for the Jag. The $49 was too good to be true!

Best Regards,
Jim

I am confused. When I got my regulators I got the from the ford dealership up the road from the house. If you have a ford dealership in the area go to them with the old regulator and see if they can match it. FYI my car is a 2000 S-Type

Gus, I went to Ford dealer and purchased Ford part # WLR-7 5W4Z-5427009-A ($98 W/OUT MOTOR), but it is the same as the Dorman 741-372 (with Motor); the verticle rail is about five inches shorter and the motor is mounted the other way; I brought the Ford part home and tried to fit it; I don't see any way it will work. I have a picture that I could email, (I don't know how to upload phone pic to forum). The Ford parts man said a couple other part numbers had superceeded to this one. I appreciate your timely responses. If you have any other ideas, I'm all ears! Regards, Jim

Gus;
This matches what I said above. I think I see what's different?

I have both an LS and a S Type side by side in my driveway. The S Type's rear windows roll down flush with the top of the door.

The LS rear windows don't. They stick up about 5 inches above the door frame. That would explain why the Lincoln part is shorter than the Jag part.

Also just to add more information. The 2003 and up cars do not share regulators. Front or rear.

Default Window regulator clips

I don't know about the interchangeability of the regulator frames, but can confirm that the (at least) front window regulator clips (2 plastic clips that slide on the rails and connect to the glass and cables) are the same for:
Jaguar S-Type
Jaguar X-Type
Lincoln LS
Ford Focus

Still looking for good write ups for the front and rear window regulators (X Type, S-Type).

I stock the front and rear clips (and cables, pulleys) for above cars (and a lot of others). Website is currently being rebuild (will be a while), but you can find me on ebay as well.

Uups. Sorry for the links and/or 'advertisement'.

I am not a business, just got into the 'regulator fix' out of my stubborn refusal to buy a $200 regulator if only 2 plastic clips are broken. Found a manufacturer (now 3) in Europe who send me the 2 clips for my car, 3 weeks (and quite some $$$ for shipping) later, the window was (and still is) working fine. Turns out that literally hundreds of others are in a similar situation. So I started to stock more clips, and for more models, offering them to other DIY selfers out there (from my home).

Can I post in a 'classified' section?

Thanks, Volker,

I wondered how you could make a living on clips.
Can't see a problem in posting in the classified section but I will ask Jim our admin to take a look.

Update: Jim has given his blessing for the cassifieds section.
