S type Sunroof issues
I have a 05 S Type 3.0 v6 with a broken sunroof. Found replacement bolt ins with motor for around $300-350. Also found parts to rebuild on eBay too for around $75.
motor runs, but it opens with a slant. So the passenger side track moves back fine but the driver side track moves back late and makes grinding noise. It ends up sliding back crooked and stops. It broke the plastic track parts to open the sunroof.
I can’t find anything online about this. No one is sharing a fix. So far I took it out and rebuilt the track with new parts for $75. Seems to look and function fine. I put it in and use the motor and the same thing, it opens crooked and then stops. I can’t figure this out. I took it back out and tried moving it back and forward manually to see if I can find the hang up and I can’t. I lubricated the cables and manually move them and still don’t see where the flaw is.
I made sure the motor was in the up position before installing. I fitted the glass flush but for some reason it acts as if the cables are not lined up right with the motor opens it. I don’t see teeth grounded or the cables nicked and damaged. Can anyone help?

Continued
I m afraid to hit the open button to see it go crooked again cause it might break what I replaced. I have it in and it is in the moon roof mode with the back tilted. When I close it it shuts and then reopens. I can’t get it to shut.
Now I have it stuck like this, anyone have any advise?

Manual turning the motor
I’ve manually turned the motor slowly and it seems to open even and slide back even. Maybe it’s the switch?
Very hard to do manually but it seems to move evenly. Idk why it goes crooked when it’s motor driven?
And it won’t close from the up position as shown in the video above this post.
Could this be the issue?

Found sensor reprogramming for s type sunroof.
Found a way to reset the sensor that might make it close. It’s for x type but I think it might work. Sorry if this stuff is covered elsewhere on a forum, I just wanted to find something specifically for the s type and hopefully it will help someone later. I’m going to try this tomorrow when I have time. Here it is...

The only thing I could add is if you can't get the sunroof to behave, but can manually get it closed, pull fuse F31 in the trunk to electrically disable it. That could buy you some time until you can figure it out.

Fixed!!!!
Hey first off, thank you for the help and I hope this helps someone else later... lol
so it’s working, new sunroof, headliner for under $300.
I used the parts kit on eBay that cost $75
headliner was $150 to get redone and I think it looks great! Take a look later down the post.
so the alignment problem with it going crooked was the cable being dry and needing greased. I took it back out the car and oiled and manually moved the run roof at lease ten times. Put it back together and I worked but the sunroof wouldn’t shut or operate properly. I found a post on an x type sunroof sensor reset. I did that this morning and it now works!
