It would look and be 'illegal' just about everywhere I know of and should be where it's not.

Why would you want to reduce your vision while driving at night?

Actually this was an option for 07/08 models I believe! I actually think they look great and would love a set myself! However I'm not sure where to get them other than the dealer and we all know how expensive that would be.....

Well just thought they look awesome when I saw this picture, I mean we could replicate it easily. It doesnt have to be extremely dark so it becomes dangerous on the road.

Are they actually tinted? Or is it just that the inside parts that are normally silver are black makingtthem look tinted.

The black instead of silver are options or features on some vehicles here in the UK.

A guy on here with a green STR had them tinted yellow. You might find it with a search or two.

Not for me but it was unique!!

That would be Michael Star. It is his high beams that are tinted yellow.

I took mine apart. Painted the interior housing black... not a huge difference, you would have to paint the whole reflector section too to make it noticeably 'black housing'.

Agreed with the sentiments of tinted headlights/taillights, only reduce light output. Pass.

One possibile soloutions would be to tint them but fit brighter bulbs? So you still have the same light output

The reason I said that is tinting lights in the UK is not illegal. Unless things have changed.

MOT rules and regulations state:
1.2: Headlights
A pair of headlights must: emit light of substantially the same colour and intensity. emit a steady colour of either white or yellow. be visible from a reasonable distance.

I didn't realise the OP was in Canada, I keep forgetting this isn't a UK forum.

The bottom part of the R's headlights are black instead of Chrome. It gives them a semi tinted / darker appearance than the stock lights.

Did Jaguar offer an OEM tinted lens for the S-type? I seem to remember that they did in the last years of the XK8. Some guys on that section have talked about them.

Take care,

George

Is it that the HID ones have that but not the non-HID (halogen)?
