s-type transmission issues and also bank 1 and 2 running lean

Ok so I bought this car last week and there are some issues.
1. code p0775 pressure control solenoid malfuntion in the trans
2. 2 codes: bank 1 and 2 running lean
I suspect there is a vacuum leak causing the lean condition and I hear a loud hissing noise coming from the drivers side rear engine compartment..I traced the hose from the throttle body and it goes under the 3 intake runners and to another rubber boot. And from there goes in to a metal pipe and thats as far as I can see , but I used a rubber hose and put it to my ear the try to isolate the leak and it seems to get louder around the metal pipe. I cant see ant farther, so I am stumped
2. trans issue: code p0775 pressure controle solenoid error. It shifts ok as long as I don't press on the gas hard from take off, if I do it takes a long time to get to second gear. Not sure if the two issues are related via pcm.
I have done research on these errors and I get everything from vacuum leaks to 02 sensors to trans rebuild to get a new battery. I usually am pretty good with cars but this one has me stumped. Any help would be awesome, thanks in advance!

i am guessing yours is a 2000 through 2002 MY. The metal hose that you are refering to goes to a rbber elbow under the lower intake manifold, prone to cracking!!!!
Look here: Auto Repair
Fix the vacuum leak(s) then worry about the transmission code, it may just dissappear after the vacuum leak is fixed.
For future please add your vehicle details in your signature, year, engine etc...

Thanks alot! ok so I guess the intake manifold has to come off? It makes sense the 2 issues are related since I bought the car from my mom and she said it never did the trans thing until the ses light came on..oh, sorry for not posting my info: 2000 jag s type 110000 mileage 3.0 liter/silver. Btw I am assuming the trans reads info from the pcm so I guess thats where its getting the error? Thanks again!

On your car, yes the trans info is from the PCM because the trans is actually all controlled from the PCM. (Later years have both PCM and TCM.) Yes, the manifold has to come off. Be gentle with the bolts or more accurately the captive(?) inserts they screw into (which can strip/come loose, I hear). You may (will?) need to replace gaskets and the design has changed somewhat as I recall. No biggie. Gentle with all the tubing under there as it's old and likely brittle by now.

The upper intake gaskets could be used again if they aren't that old (maybe), I have read that some techs replace them and some don't. Basically your call.
As far as the lower intake gaskets, I would NOT reuse them! They are not like the rubber seal gaskets such as the uppers.
I don't have a windows live acct. If you have the pic on your puter, just "Go Advanced" rather than a "post quick response", scroll down to "manage attachments" and follow upload instructions.
I would love to see what you see
