Screw it I drive the car hard with sport mode and manual shifts. Hell that's what I bought the car for is to drive some what hard and aggressive. However do not keep the car in sport mode in daily driving or you get this little well known GEAR BOX FAULT which means head on into the trans repair shop for a 2k tranny repair! Yep just a warning don't daily drive with sport mode or you to will be wiping tears away from a costly repair! Don't buy a Jag if you can't afford costly repairs! Several repairs I may add! I love them Jags! $$$$$

Do not refill by measuring what came out. That is not how to do it. You don't know that it is correctly filled now.
If there's a problem with Sport then you know SOMETHING IS WRONG. It may not be the fill level, but there again it very well may be.
To anyone with problems, first find what's wrong.
There's a FAQ about working on the 5R55N (used in the 1999-2002 cars). But again - find what's wrong first. Many trans problems actually are Engine problems. (E.g. any kind of jerks can upset the autobox, and other issues do too.)

Try changing the PCV, this fixed my problem, now I need to do that again
- I have a 2001 S-Type, 98000 miles, 4.0 . went on a short trip and on the way the display said transmission fault, shortly after that I lost drive. drive is now just like neutral. I moved the shifter to " 3 " and got home. Called the local Jag dealer and they told me they do not work on transmissions, they replace them. They want $7000.00 to replace it[:@]. Called a local AAmco transmission shop and they said about $2000.00[:@] . Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong with it? I dont want to spend alot of money if it is not necessary. I have not had it scanned for codes. Thanks for any help !!
Try changing the PCV

Reginald, this thread is three and a half years old at its most recent post (prior to yours) and the OP has not been active since 2011. As a FYI, depending on the year/engine, some S-types are not equipped with a conventional PCV valve...
