Look at what BMW (1 through 7 series) and Audi (A4 and up) are doing. Styling seems similar, but proportions are different, as are drivetrains - for saloons/sedans. Cadillac does the same, while changing one letter. In the used market, one will be a price shopper only, because there is little difference as you increment the number or letter by one.

In the used Jaguar market, each model has been unique. Now, a Xf will look like XE's big brother, like Audi or BMW siblings. During like year model runs, there were obvious but not radical differences between S, X and XJ styling, easily identifying entry level vs. flagship. Time will tell what holds for the XF....while I long for a late model XK.

I think I'm going to be sick. That is FUGLY. And such a waste. Someone really had to put effort into doing that - better spent on maintenance.

Some vehicles lend themselves to looking better on 26"s or greater. Jaguars do not.

BTW, I'll take donations from those with too much excess money that they'll even consider doing something like this.

Ya, when I was still following things over on the X-Type list there were, frequently, many of those sorts of pix. BIG wheels seemed to be in favor back then...

Be that as it may, what I've said is true and companies are taking notice of it. Consumers between the ages 21 and 40 have tremendous buying power combined with the habit of not keeping things long term. Jobs, cars and even houses get swapped out a drastically higher rates and frequency than in older generations.

Plus, no one really looks twice at Audi's and BMW's. Yet, when I go somewhere in my XF, it is not uncommon at all to have someone make a comment, give a thumbs up or nod of the head in appreciation. I've been approached several times while filling up at the gas station by people who wanted to talk about it. Think that happens to 5 series owners?

So to say that Jaguar failed us in the styling, distinction and air department is sorely mistaken I believe as pertains to the 1st and 2nd generation XF.

Put some mud tires on those 28's and it'll be great for rough muddy dirt roads or crossing a river. Who needs a Land Rover.

That had already happened here by say 20 years ago. Hasn't got faster, probably slower here.

Otherwise I am fairly sure you're describing the USA and pretty much only the USA.

I think the XF is the best looking Lexus ever made.

I quite like the xf , but it's related to this Tata safari , with out a doubt the ugliest shitest suv ever biult ! Trust me I've driven one , lada has mutch better qualety ! and better styling !

And I'd have a hard time forgetting that fact , sure Tata took a lot on and have done a lot with jaguar in not a lot of time. But the image above has a permenent stain on the Tatas history ! I'm sightly ashamed that Tata is now related to my car , ford should have been more stringent in there background checks on the prospective buyer of such a brand name ,

Fortunately for those of us in North America, the word 'tata' is unknown other than as a bit of slang. I keep telling SWMBO that I'm going to buy a second Jag just so I can sit and admire a nice pair of Tatas.

Won't be an XF though.

So when will we expect to see a redesign Jag showcase? Let's see it's 2016 and the XF was introduced in 2007. I would like to be part of panel to see what the new design would look and give my opinion.

??, are you thinking of the XF related to our S-Types? Those were discontinued last year. The new XF is a totally different car.

Boy some of the comments in this thread fit me to a "T"!! Big depreciation, Shade tree mechanic/tinker.

My 2005 STR was just a great deal on a low mileage late model luxury car for me. I got mine about the same time frame as Jon. Bad times in Jan 2009. So a barely 4 year old car with 32K miles and about 1 year of factory warranty left. This was key to me! I figured if it was a nightmare at least Jaguar would need to fix it for the first year. Then I found this forum and learned the weak points and common failures.

I used that info to make sure I got all the stuff done I could. I was amazed at what Jag would cover. Slight wrinkle in the headliner by the visor and I got a brand new headliner! Upgraded SC belt/pulley system because of a belt squeak on start up that I could only hear when I listen very closely on first start up in cold weather. Complained about the "Lurch" with not much improvement. But It seems to have gradually gotten better or I just learned to drive around it?

Yes no aftermarket or hot rod stuff. Although Avos finally got the twin screw kit released. I would love to get it but putting $6K+ into such a low value car is hard to do. I have not read of anyone who who has done it yet?
If anyone has I hope they post.

The XF should drive very similar to all the S Types/Lincoln Ls's. It's still very much the same underneath and under the hood (outside the new engines). The Mustang had some of the DEW platform up until 2014 to.

You had to bring up Lambo doors! Yes it's possible and has been done if pictures on the internet don't lie.

Funny how there's always someone who is willing to spend a fortune on 26"+ rims and tires, and/or Lamborghini doors...on a car now worth $3,000.

I see more STs on the road now, since many are picking them up as daily supermarket runner, rather than highway cruising. Same could be said of late '90's - early 2000's XJs.

Will we say the same about 15 year old XFs?

I think those who've done avos TS either have a non-STR (e.g. XJR) or are on UK site.

Yes that's what I have seen too. Too bad it took so long to get the TS kit out. Several years ago I would have been more interested as the car was worth a good bit more then.

Still a interesting idea and the end result would be pretty quick for the total amount you had invested in the car.

You won't see as many XF's because Jaguar sales have been terrible for many years. If you read about JLR the Land Rover side has been carrying all the load since they bought it from Ford.

If Jaguar had been a stand alone brand I don't think they would still be around.

Might have lasted as a niche sports car, low volume producer (like Aston Martin, Caterham, Lotus, etc). The only thing missing from the lineup is a 4 seat F-Type....for those of us grandparents stuck with a child seat or 2. Can someone spell "XK"?

I do not understand that argument at all. Please explain why the lower value of the car makes it not worth adding the kit. I tend to think it is better to add it to the car precisely when it's worth less as you've less money at risk were it to go wrong (which might even include a crash due to surprising extra power).
