6'4 (seem to be a lot here) 210 and it fits me well. This is one of the few cars I have been in that if I put the seat all the way back it almost seems like I can't reach the pedals.

Man this is a tall/big bunch of guys on this forum! We should have an S Type arena football team or something.

I'm 6'5" and around 225lbs (dang you holiday cookies, dang you) - no problems fitting in the STR. You couldn't shove a roadmap between the back of the drivers seat and the rear bench but I found that with the pedal and steering wheel adjustments I have plenty of headroom and legroom and the car is very comfortable.

Width is fairly tight, I can see how if a guy was a little bit wider then he would be sitting on the side bolsters and that would not be comfortable. But for me they hug just right.

The hip pain is odd - have you tried moving the bottom seat adjuster in or out to change the pressure points a little? I have 3 blown discs and have had back surgery but not really any pain in these seats.

6'5" 260 and my 06 STR is my daily driver. Although it is a bit cramped I am confortable to drive 300 mile trips with no problem. My only real complaint is with the narrowness of the seat bottom around the front of my thighs. Thing is though, when I tested an XJ-R it's seat seemed to have the same configuration. I play with the seat every few weeks, extending the seat bottom, or tiltling it differently.

As a side note, I sat in a 2010 M3 at our local autoshow here in Charlotte. OUCH! the side bolstering wouldn't even let me in the seat!

i read somewhere that in 05 they changed the seats in the s-type which resulted in an extra 2 cm of leg room. i think they dished the bucket deeper on the seat back. if i was a tall guy i would be looking at 05 and later. at 5ft 8 i find the cabin of my 03 quite comfortable but my passenger has to have his seat all the way back and raked and his knees are around his ears and he is 6 ft 2 but he is also what you might politely call big and tall.

I feel like a midget at 5'10" and 200 lbs. The S-Type's seats are the most comfortable I've experienced, more so than the seats in my two previous XJs.

Another side note. The most uncomfortable car I've sat in was a 1979 Corvette. The seats were unbearable after about 10 minutes.

I've tried all different seat settings, an extra cushion and I think it is the seat bolsters pressing on my hips. It doesn't feel tight on me but my hip says different. Someone said it on this thread we're all different when it comes to seat comfort. I went to the doc and got a shot in the bursa but the pain only went away for a few days as soon as I stopped driving the Jag the pain has greatly subsided. The Doc warned me if you are at all subject to back pain/hip pain you need to drive with your knees level with the hips NOT above the hips,(like in a Pickup) which they definitely were in the Jag. I suppose I could really build up the seat bottom and elevate me out of the bucket but I simulated that and it is not very comfortable. Was hoping the 16 way seat in another premium Jag might drop into my stype which has the standard electric seat. It ticks me off because I really love the Jag and it's the best looking car out there. PM me if anyone is interested in an 05 3.0 with 42k. I bought it from the original owner who had proof of dealer service. Grey metalic, light grey interior looks like new inside and out, chrome mags. I just replaced pressure tank, DCCV, all hoses/flush, thermostat and front brakes. Southern Cal car NO rust/salt. $14.5k

Default Comfort

I am 6'1 and 305 lbs and find the seat setting OK, same as you guys, all the way back and way down low, makes getting in and out of the car interesting with my back issues though. I appreciate what Dirk says in the above post, good job I only drive the Jag for 10 minutes a day otherwise I think a change in vehicle would be required.

For anyone weighing in at more than 230 to 240 or so, dropping some weight and getting in better all-around shape would probably help considerably with seat comfort (as it does with most vehicles, including airliners). Not much you can do, though, if your problem is like mine - being much too tall for the car....

And I must be a shrimp at 6'0" and 150 lbs! Note to self, avoid any dark alleys where these fine gentlemen congregate.

Anyways, I must say that I love the R seats. This is the first car I driven where I actually fit and do not slide around everywhere when taking a corner at speed. After becoming acclimated to the cockpit feel of the car, I cannot stand the wide open spaces of SUVs anymore. Oh well, to each their own.

I'm 6'2" 245. 38 inch waist, and a 50 inch chest. I despise flying for that reason. I have no problem with my butt / legs fitting in the seat, but my shoulders make it impossible to get comfortable, especially if there is someone next to me.

I actually watched an episode of unique whips a while ago, where an NFL player had purchased a dodge viper, and brought it to them. they took the seat apart, cut down the foam from the bolsters and reupholstered it for him.

Then one of the clowns who worked there took it out for a spin, and lost it on the first corner and tore up some guy's lawn with it, but that's a different story...

Take Care,

George

Apparently, he's tall enough where he can see right over us, so as long as he doesn't look down, he's ok

Btw Jeff, just got home and got your CD in the mailbox. Thanks again!
I'll experiment and post back accordingly.

Take care,

George

Darned if I'd dare to suggest weight loss to those 230+ lbs!!
I'm smaller and lighter than anyone has posted so the R sport seats with 16-way adjust are great
I probably leave room in the back seat for most of you.

Lol if we need a driver, we'll call you Cause there's no adult fitting into the back seat of my S-Type, at least not behind me!

I've always been a big guy, sure I could lose 20-30lbs, but I'm never going to be small in stature.

Take care,

George

Guys, we've wandered a long way off topic.

The boxing discussion doesn't have much relevance to S types, if you wan to carry on with it you'll find it in the off topic section here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=48745

Have fun.
